Summary:
Four Spider creatures, eight party members, one dead prisoner and very little gas left in the tank. A few close calls, but the team pulled through alright.
Description
After handling their new toys, and making sure skills are updated to use the new toys, the party decided to press on through the doors to West, on the higher level. They probably should have heard a woman’s weeping from behind the doors to the South, but the DM didn’t think of that in time to indicate they ought to try that direction (Sorry!). The party sneaked up on the doors, and Spiv bravely walked in. Once there, he saw a horrific sight: a man wearing a guard’s uniform with rank insignia webbed to a wall being eaten by a large spider and a spider/humanoid creature. He was able to move around the sticky webs covering the floor without getting stuck due to his exceptional Dexterity, and was nearly able to get a free hit on the humanoid. Instead, he was attacked by the Spider, who would inject its poison into him and several other party members over the course of the fight. At one point, Spiv was bleeding to death, only barely saved by his teammates.
More to come later…
In the end, the party triumphed, but they are exhausted, tired, and convinced that retreat would surely result in the death of the rest of the hostages. However, they all know that personal growth comes from perseverance over adversity, and this moment represents a level of adversity none of them have faced before: ensuring growth if they live.
