Xuande: Hi. :)
Xuande: I figure you guys don’t want to listen to ‘om nom nom’ theater, so I’m keeping the mic off until I finish.
GM: Alright
Xuande: Agreed.. I’m only having macaroni and cheese. :(
Xuande: Which isn’t bad… but it isn’t a member of the higher order of foods known as meats.
Ferret (Xuande): Would we understand it if he did?
Last time on Scales of War: Our heroes defeated a second wave of attacking goblins, then assisted the townsfolk with putting out fires and securing the town. The following day they met with Councilman Troyas, who hired the Heroes of the West Gate to save the villagers taken hostage and return some artifacts taken as well.
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): And we found out something from the fellow we interrogated…
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): Riverroar? I forget where he told us his boss was holed up
In the first leg of their investigation, they interrogated a captive Hobgoblin, who pointed them to a place called Rivenroar in the North
Benticore (Thalamus): TO THE NORTH WE RIDE…
Ferret (Xuande): Yep
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Ride? Really? We have the cash for that?
Godryk gets out his coconuts.. and gets ready to ride…
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): well Atras… I think you sold me the FR book.
Atras: Swordmage is sweet, huh?
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): they’re both awesome
Xuande: Rivenroar..perhaps a place where the river flows rapidly?
Alastair Danaan: Perhaps we should ask around town about Rivenroar before we go?

Alastair Danaan: Any trusted local guides? Caravanesery (sp)
Xuande: That’s not a bad idea. Maybe they know something of this.
GM: Anyone care to make a streetwise check?
Thalamus: We follow de gobby tracks north, my youth. They be plenty enough gobby for even de wizard gwan follow, seen?
Erethis: Plenty now, but who knows about later?
Alastair Danaan → Skill [Streetwise] [21] [1d20+4 = 21]
Ardril glares at Thalamus.
Godryk → Skill [Streetwise] [3] [1d20+1 = 3]
Godryk trips over his own feet.
Ardril → Skill [Streetwise] [3] [1d20 = 3]
Thalamus makes a placating gesture at Ardril
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): do I have any idea where I might be able to find a reliable guide?
Thalamus: No disrespek, brudda
Nosferatu (Rich): you have become better at understanding Thalamus (1)
Xuande → Skill [Streetwise] [23] [1d20+4 = 23]
Ferret (Xuande): I think it’s to ask around about Rivenroar
Townsfolk: Hello
Townsfolk: Rivenroar? I think so
Townsfolk: the name is famliar
Xuande: I don’t know if this will help you, but we’ve heard rather bad things of the place.
Alastair Danaan: So… where is it? any idea who in town might know more about it?
Nosferatu (Rich): what?
Xuande: Something about the undead having a hold on the place.
Erethis: And we would like to get there. For the good of the town.
Townsfolk: Wasn’t there a family that was wiped out when the Red Hand attacked?
Alastair Danaan: That’s terrible…
Townsfolk: I know they had a castle in the mountains
Alastair Danaan: And you heard that associated with the name Rivenroar?
Townsfolk: Must have been them
Townsfolk: There was four families of nobles
Thalamus: you be talking about Kartenix Captain o de guard and his little boy dere, right?
Townsfolk: Rivenroar may have been one
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): Who is the local expert on the nobility?
Townsfolk: Was Kartenix among the killed?
Townsfolk: and Thurann?
Townsfolk: that little scamp
Alastair Danaan: No, he was kidnapped.
Townsfolk: I suppose that is better
Erethis: Would there be a hall of records or something around here where more details could be found?
Thalamus: No no, but the gobby gwan grab dem
Xuande: Only by threads.
Atras: Hall of Great Valor or Troyas may be able to help there
Townsfolk: Mayhap the Hall
Thalamus nods
Alastair Danaan: But the head of the Hall has been kidnapped as well.
Townsfolk: it was a long time ago, and I think they all died years ago
Erethis: We should go to Troyas. We can see again about getting that advance…
Alastair Danaan: Are there clerks and so on that work there?
Townsfolk: yes
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): which are we closer to
Atras: it doesn’t take long to go around town
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): OMG
Nosferatu (Rich): sorry I just couldn’t wait…
Nosferatu (Rich): besides maybe is got big point fangs!
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): I hope you have more cues for later.
a few hours pass as you search the Hall of Great Valor, you find that there was a castle build along the Northern Branch of the Elsir River, just South of the Giant’s Shield by a group of three families
Benticore (Thalamus): two shalt be the number that ye shall count…
Alastair Danaan: What are the names of the families?
Von Jallach, Von Andrez and Von Urstadt
They named the castle Rivenroar
Alastair Danaan: Any of them still alive / live in town?
Townsfolk: No, I’m afraid not.
Alastair Danaan: Pity.
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): ok folks, still want to talk to Troyas?
Townsfolk: To the best of my knowledge, they never finished building the castle, most died trying to defend it
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): No, I think this is good enough…
Alastair Danaan: Yes, I heard of a family that died the same way. Don’t remember where. Out by a swamp somewhere.
Alastair Danaan: Don’t think I’ll ever want to start up a castle myself. Doesn’t seem safe.
Townsfolk: The Blackfens?
Alastair Danaan: No-oo. Hm…. Witch something. Maybe just an old story. Not around here anyway, carry on.
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Though we should decide on a path - looks like maybe north and then east along the road to Red Rock, and then into the foothills?
Erethis: Or just follow the river?
Atras: You guys have never updated your character Wiki pages - How am I supposed to focus on this campaign while at work without that?
Ferret (Xuande): :( I knew I forgot something.
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): What is Red Rock, btw?
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): I updated mine once but not last time :(
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Yeah - I’m behind too… :(
GM: So… what are your plans?
Godryk (Godryk): Keep meaning too but life gets in the way….
Alastair Danaan: So… is there anywhere we can hire a boat to take us down the river?
Ferret (Xuande): What? It’s a town full of game developers? Oh..
Atras: I could use wishlists too, when you get a chance
Townsfolk: I don’t think so, not with the attacks
[w] Alastair Danaan: Alastair wants a wand or rod. Not particular which kind. That’s about it…
Townsfolk: Most of the merchants docked when the raids came went down stream
Godryk: We could always head to Elstircross and follow the river up from there.
Alastair Danaan: Is Red Rock a fairly busy town?
Townsfolk: Lots of Dwarves…
Erethis: Perhaps one with more precise geographical records…?>
Townsfolk: I don’t know much about it beyond that
Alastair Danaan: Well, I suppose Dwarves would know something about travel through mountains.
Thalamus draws his long nailed, black painted finger across the map
Alastair Danaan: What of Elsircross?
Townsfolk: small farming village
Townsfolk: most of the people who live out there just tend to plants all day
Thalamus: Why don we follow de easy way, like water, down de Dawn Way, den cut up thru the branch to Elsircross, thn up de river and into de backside o de gobby, my youth?
Alastair Danaan: In that case, good folk, my suggestion is to travel to Red Rock.
Townsfolk: no walls, so if the Goblins hit them… they could be all dead
GM: Time may well be of the essence
Xuande: No walls…
Xuande looks a mite grim.
Alastair Danaan: How do you suggest we travel up the river, Thalamus? Still, I suppose if you are interested in the status of Elsircross, a visit may be on our way…
Xuande: I think our path is set, then?
Ardril: Indeed. We should set forth posthaste.
Spiv: Our task is to find the missing villagers.
Alastair Danaan: (says quietly) I suppose there’s no point in my suggesting that without living townsfolk there may be no boats to hire?
Erethis: Yeah - if we can’t find a way upriver from Elsircross, we can always procede to Red Rock from there…
Godryk: True, we may not be able to help Elsircross if they are having problems, but stopping the main force will help everyone.
Spiv: Let’s not dawdle in another village - they may have a dozen missing people for us to find.
Xuande frowns at Spiv’s words, but remains silent.
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): what do we know about the travel times on solid road vs. dashed road
Thalamus: we travel up de river wit two feets
Townsfolk: Do please keep an eye out for Sertanian, he is such a gentle man
Scaphism (Spiv): Do we have physical descriptions of each of the captives?
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): I think so
Alastair Danaan: Oh yes, of course.
Atras: I can’t recall
Alastair Danaan: Sertanian. He’s in our prayers.
Erethis: Anyway, we should be gerring a move on. To Elsircross?
Alastair Danaan: Very well.
Godryk: Agreed.
Xuande: Let’s set out.
Godryk (Godryk): Que music…
Spiv: A brief stop perhaps.
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): Dawn way
taking the Dawn Way, you make good time towards Elsircross
Thalamus: ereting irie, we be on dat road, my youth
Erethis: Um…sure thing, Thalamus…
the people there are busying themselves with farming
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): ask people along the way if they’ve seen any goblins
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): Not everybody, just once or twice
a teenager with a longbow approaches you as you near the edge of town
Townsfolk: Hello?
Thalamus walks up to a farmer, tries to ask him a question without scaring the farmer out of his mind…fails horribly
Alastair Danaan: Hello, my good man.
Townsfolk: Hi
Alastair Danaan: Welcome to Elsircross!
Alastair Danaan: is what I would like you to say…
Townsfolk: That’s …. my line?
Godryk shakes his head….
Xuande: Hello there. You’re the sentry here? It does me good to see the likes of you. Then you already know of what happened in Brindol?
Townsfolk: Sorry, I’m new at this
Townsfolk: I’m used to guiding the plow
Townsfolk: We smelled burning, what happened?
Godryk: Have you been having problems iwth Goblins of late, or seen any?
Townsfolk: nothing out of the norm
Xuande: Goblins, a significant host of them. Even with a few ogres.
Townsfolk: Phil said he killed two goblins three nights ago
Xuande: They hit Brindol yesterday.
Godryk: And what would the norm be here in this small community?
Xuande: Brindol still stands strong, never fear. But there was death and damage to be sure.
Townsfolk: but no one found any bodies, and Tommy said that Phil still had all of his arrows
Alastair Danaan: Well, well.
Ardril rolls his eyes and sighs.
Townsfolk: How many attacked to get fires started?
Townsfolk: usually, late at night, there are small human-shpaed shadows darting around
Xuande: There were three of the ogre-led fire crews. A few dozen goblins in raid groups of a dozen each.
Townsfolk: Tommy says they are just Halflings, but Phil and I think they are goblins
Erethis: Enough pleasantries. Good fellow - who would we speak to in town if we sought passage upriver? It is urgent.
Townsfolk: By Pelor! So many?
Alastair Danaan: (quietly) perhaps they haven’t raided the town yet because… there’s nothing here they want?
Xuande: Halflings are good folk, they’d not sneak around at night for no cause.
Townsfolk: usually they just steal animals or some food
Townsfolk: I heard one stole a human baby once and it grew up to be a Goblin Hero
Townsfolk: I don’t believe that though, who would want to be a hero for Goblins
Xuande: We have to move on quickly, I’m afraid. The goblins kidnapped folk, we mean to take them back. But let your elders know what took place in Brindol, aye?
Erethis: Yes, yes. A charming tale. But about getting upriver?
Townsfolk: No, Halflings like parties, they would stick around
Townsfolk: Oh
Townsfolk: the ferry is just over there (pointing to a small dock)
Erethis: No. UPRIVER, not across.
Townsfolk: any of the adults with the blue sash can take you across
Thalamus gestures towards the boy
Townsfolk: Uh…
Townsfolk: I don’t know
Thalamus: Come to Thalamus…I put de charms and majicks of the Bird Mother on you, nobody gwan hurt you after I finish, my youth
Townsfolk: we don’t have ships to spare, just the one ferry
Townsfolk eyes Thalamus cautiously
Xuande: We may simply have to walk it. I’m not sure I’d want to ride up to their territory in a vessel unsuited to combat.
Erethis: (ignores boy, speaks to party) I suppose we must go on foot, then..
Townsfolk: Where are you going?
Townsfolk: To kill goblins?
Xuande: Rivenroar, the old keep that was never finished.
Alastair Danaan: Upriver.
Townsfolk: Cause I bet I could shoot them from 1000 paces!
Spiv: Yes, to kill the goblins.
Townsfolk: Riverroar?
Townsfolk: never heard of it
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Cannon fodder?
Xuande: I’m sure you could, but you are needed here.
Godryk: An old castle.. it may be in ruins now.
Atras: no, don’t ask him to come, please
Xuande: You heard me tell what happened in Brindol.
Townsfolk: yeah…
Xuande: If the goblins came here, your bow will be needed.
Townsfolk: think Brindol needs help?
Townsfolk: I’ll go tell my dad
Xuande: Brindol is fine now. I worry more for this place, without walls or many men at arms.
Thalamus: You a badman wit dat bow, my youth…stay and protect your papa, seen?
Townsfolk: we’ll be ok, lots of us younger guys are learning how to fight
Townsfolk: I’m going to save a princess
Xuande nods to the lad.
Xuande: Keep to your post then, and you’ll do fine.
Townsfolk: then I’ll be a king, with a magic bow… and lots of money
Erethis: That’s nice, boy. We should be going, now…
Townsfolk: and servants
Xuande: We should be getting underway now.
Townsfolk: and you guys could visit
Thalamus heads towards the ferry
Townsfolk: and I’d …..
Erethis follws
Townsfolk keeps talking and talking and talking
Xuande bows politely and takes his leave as well.
Alastair Danaan politely takes his leave
Alastair Danaan: ask around to see if there’s a trail along the riverbank?
Townsfolk: Not a real path, path
Townsfolk: but easy to follow the river
Townsfolk: Rivenroar?
Townsfolk: Nope. Ain’t ringing a bell
Spiv: Maybe your father would know?
Erethis: Hmm…perhaps we go to Red Rock and consult the Dwarves?
Godryk wonders if people in Red Rock may have more information if they live closer to the northern part of the river.
Spiv follows the others to the ferry.
Rich: I seem to recall dwarves tend to have long memories..
Xuande: I agree. We still need a little more information.
Ardril: Most likely the dwarves be more knowledgeable of any stone works.
Erethis: And know about mountains and rocks and construction…
Townsfolk: Folks need a crossing?
Erethis: Yes, we do
Ardril: They may have been commissioned to do the quarry work even.
Godryk: Please, kind sir.
Townsfolk: climb aboard, you going to need a crossing back soon?
Erethis: Nope.
Godryk: Hard to say when we’ll be back.
Townsfolk: Good, good, corn not going to husk itself
Townsfolk: jest shout till you get someone’s attention
Spiv: This may be a good time to bring it up - how are we going to get all the townsfolk back?
Xuande: Ever heard of an old unfinished castle named Rivenroar up north along the river?
Godryk (Godryk): Bag of Holding
Liquidmantis (Ardril): I was going to type that :(
Spiv: They are cooks, crones, and children.
Townsfolk: Old Castle…
Townsfolk: rumors, never been there myself to see
Erethis: Well…they manages to get there, they can manage to get out.
Townsfolk: up in the foothills of the mountain?
Ardril perks up at the mention of rumors.
Godryk (Godryk): I”m assuming they’ll be alive and can walk so they can probably follow us out.
Xuande: Do you know something of it’s location? We only know the general vicinity.
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): We can tie them up to make a raft and float them downriver all the way back to Brindol
Ardril: We’d appreciate if you might share anything you’ve heard, rumors or no.
Townsfolk: I hear brave boys go upriver, and some say they seen a castle
Townsfolk: boys, though
Townsfolk: who can say
Xuande: That’s our destination actually. Brindol was attacked by a raiding party of goblins and ogres yestereve. They took prisoners, possibly back to this Rivenroar.
Townsfolk spits
Townsfolk: damn dirty goblins
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Yes…those bastards…
Xuande: I was glad to see the sentry at Elsicross. I hope he is unneeded, but I fear not.
Townsfolk: always good to have a lookout, even if just to teach kids about caution
Thalamus: dont chu worry, my youth. me and my bruddas here gwan smash dem gobby’s and set free de peoples, word is bond
Townsfolk: no real problems out here in a while
Townsfolk: youre not from around here, are you?
Spiv: You haven’t seen any raiding parties coming by?
Townsfolk: nope
Xuande: That’s good to know, at least. Brindol had been having smaller attacks frequently before the large raid. Still..
Townsfolk: we are probably too small to get noticed
Townsfolk: just some farmland with a tiny ferry
Ardril: Goblins don’t always need incentive for wanton pillaging.
Alastair Danaan: Very reasonable of you to admit, good sir.
Townsfolk: well, that’s the crossing, already well past midday, I’ve gotta get back to the farm
Ardril: Best of luck to you.
Townsfolk: True, but lots of us older guys have fought Goblins before
Xuande: Thank you again, and Pelor watch you.
Townsfolk: like I said, just shout when you need to come back
Townsfolk: and Pelor help you if you can’t wait until morning
Thalamus: we gwan head towards Red Rock, my bruddas?
Townsfolk: see ya
Erethis: Yeah - I’d go with Red Rock. Wouldn’t want to get lost wandering aimlessly in the mountains.
Xuande: I’d like to check on them, yes.. and they may have more information. Perhaps they were even involved in the attempted construction?
Spiv: Thank you.
Alastair Danaan: Very well then. Red Rock it is.
Erethis: Besides. They probably have warm beds for the night, there.
Spiv: These warbands have to have gotten down the river somehow.
The party spends the remainder of the day walking to Red Rock, arriving a few hours after dark
Spiv: If they don’t know anything in Elsircross, maybe they will in Red Rock.
Erethis: Let’s find us an inn.
Alastair Danaan: Good idea.
Godryk (Godryk): Any guards or sentries at the town entrance?
Staying a small, unconfortable inn (everything is Dwarf sized) the party rests
Alastair Danaan: I wonder what the dwarves think of as a good inn…
Ferret (Xuande): This is an extended rest, right?
Godryk: Probably well stock with ale!
Townsfolk: Good beer, hard beds
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Alright, well, let’s get up and harass us some dwarves…
Townsfolk: yes, extended rest
GM: yes, extended rest
Spiv: Small, stale, and musty, no doubt.
Ardril → Taking Extended Rest
Alastair Danaan → Taking Extended Rest
Red Rock Dwarf: Off to Rivenroar you say?
Ardril: So you know of it?
Xuande: Aye, the old unfinished castle. We’ve heard goblins base themselves there.
Erethis: That’s the hope. We could use directions. Or, better yet, a guide.
Thalamus signals for a beer
Xuande: They attacked Brindol two nights past, took prisoners and left with them.
Red Rock Dwarf: Goblins in Rivenroar?
Red Rock Dwarf: could be
Xuande: Have you had trouble with them here?
Red Rock Dwarf: they tore what was left of the castle down a decade ago
Red Rock Dwarf: nothing we can’t handle
Thalamus: We be dem badman a plenty who gwan crunch dem gobby bones, seen?
Red Rock Dwarf: the occasional raiding party tries to attack up
Red Rock Dwarf: but we just chase them off, kill them if we can
Red Rock Dwarf: they tend to lob an arrow our way now and again
Xuande: Have they been getting more active lately? Or is it largely unchanged?
Red Rock Dwarf: mostly they stay out of the mountains
Red Rock Dwarf: I think it might even be less, these days
Alastair Danaan: Are there any guides here that can help us find Rivenroar?
Rich → Taking Extended Rest
Godryk: Has anyone check to see if there are any goblins in the ruins of the castle?
Red Rock Dwarf: No
Red Rock Dwarf: we don’t bother
Red Rock Dwarf: nothing there but death, and if goblins want to live there, huh, better than them wanting to live here
Red Rock Dwarf: Guides? unlikely
Ardril: How far are the ruins?
Red Rock Dwarf: should be in the foothills of the Shield
Red Rock Dwarf: along the Elsir
Erethis: Precise directions, then?
Red Rock Dwarf: I’m not sure how much of it is visible these days
Thalamus: can’t miss it, my youth?
Red Rock Dwarf: Never been
Godryk: Ever heard the name Sinruth before?
Xuande: Thalamus speaks true. If it’s a base for goblins and ogres, we won’t have much trouble spotting it, castle or not.
Alastair Danaan: Can you point us to someone who has been there?
Red Rock Dwarf: Sinruth? can’t say I’ve heard of that
Red Rock Dwarf: I honestly don’t know anyone who has been there.. come to think of it
Red Rock Dwarf: I know there are two springs that form parts of the Elsir in the Shield
Red Rock Dwarf: one is a good 5 hour walk through the hills, the other is probably another 6
Erethis: I’m just concerned that once we reach the river, we won’t know whether we are up or downstream of the castle.
Xuande: By the sound of things, we may have to rely on our trackers to spot signs of the enemy.
Xuande: It isn’t an ideal plan, but precise information seems lacking.
Erethis: So be it. Let us head out, while the day is still young.
Red Rock Dwarf: Sorry I can’t help more
Spiv: If there is offal flowing downstream, the goblins are upstream.
Spiv: Otherwise, we’re upstream.
Ardril: Little as it is, it’s the most we’ve gotten thus far.
Red Rock Dwarf: good luck boys
Alastair Danaan: Good enough for me.
Xuande: It’s alright. To be fair, I’m glad you know less. After what happened in Brindol, we didn’t know what to expect to find here.
Thalamus points at spiv
Red Rock Dwarf: who is paying?
Red Rock Dwarf: 10sp a room
Thalamus: He be seeing things for true. I an I follow spiv
Erethis: I have some coin remaining…
Red Rock Dwarf thanks Erethis
Spiv: Erethis, there’s a good man.
Ardril: Perhaps I might earn our rooms with some entertainment?
Alastair Danaan: I’ll take off the 10sp for my room, thanks.
Ardril conjurs a glowing blue sphere making the sound of tinkling chimes.
Alastair Danaan: Alastair gives the dwarf a gold.
Spiv: A gold for that?
Alastair Danaan: *I* occupied a room.
Thalamus: nobody would stay in my room
Erethis pays for the rest. Grudgingly…
Alastair Danaan: I wonder why.
Thalamus pays the dwarf a gold
Red Rock Dwarf: [7] [1d20 = 7]
Alastair Danaan: Alastair prepares to walk.
Erethis: Yeah - let’s go.
Alastair Danaan tries to stop speaking of himself in the third person
Godryk hands the dwarf a gold coin.
As the heroes head through the hills, they scare a few wild animals, and fjord one branch of the Elsir
Spiv murmurs out of earshot. “Greedy dwarves.”
they continue on this heading when they come to what appears to be the remnant of a road
Spiv looks for signs of goblins as they travel.
Godryk wonders why everyone is just standing around staring at the road.
Thalamus: who got dem good eyes for the trackin an ting?
Ardril looks for wagon tracks

4dSwissCheese (Erethis): back
Liquidmantis (Ardril): STOP! Collabaratin’ Listen.
Alastair Danaan: Oh dear, I see letters.
Liquidmantis (Ardril): AAYYY!!!!!
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Maybe they just want to talk to us…
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): Thalamus back with a brand new edition.
Nosferatu (Rich): the Fonz is attackingus?
Thalamus: Dammit
Benticore (Thalamus): Cease and desist!
Nosferatu (Rich): what’s a Kruthick?
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): You’d think we’d know by now…most of us, at least…
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): I hope that’s out of game nosferatu…
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): you fought them TWICE in my game
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): lizard burrowers
4dSwissCheese (Erethis): Can we just go around?
GM: This canyon winds between two ridges. Suddenly, chittering, armored buglike creatures emerge from the ground just north of you and quickly move in your direction.
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): the last time I had a tricky slippery floor that annoyed the hell out of Benticore
Nosferatu (Rich): ah I kind thought that was what they were, but wasn’t sure.
[GM] [TURN] Kruthik Adult 1

Benticore (Thalamus): I was damn near killed by an inanimate object

Spiv: Are they fleeing the goblins, or coming after us?

King Mob (Alastair Danaan): OK, so we look for a safe place to make camp near the ruins of the castle
Spiv → Taking Extended Rest
Erethis: I’ll meditate while keeping watch.
King Mob (Alastair Danaan): Does anything disturb our rest?
GM: nope
Alastair Danaan → Taking Extended Rest
GM: The Castle of Rivenroar is in bad repair. The walls have nearly all collapsed, and the vines growing over the remaining walls threaten to pull down the rest. You can still see the depression of an old trail going to where there would have been a gate, a long time ago. You have to assume that this place was sacked when the Red Hand Army attacked the Vale ten years ago, and has not generated interest in restoring it. The catacombs, however, are a different story. The thick double wooden doors barring entry to the catacombs look untouched by the years, clearly a magic spell was used on them. There is no sign of a lock of any sort on the doors, neither a bar to keep unsavory haunts out, nor a keyhole into which a key might fit, just a simple latch. Above the door is a marble mantle, with three names engraved on it in a pyramid structure: Von Urstadt, Rivenroar,Von Jallach.
GM: A little teaser to start off next time
Alastair Danaan → Skill [Arcana] [16] [1d20+6 = 16]
