GM: ok... where are your characters? Ardeth, you can wait till your char is done
GM: Where did Gerund go after the last adventure? Tallis? (Nos, you're welcome to hang with us till we get to actual combat)
Nosferatu (Tallis): I would presume back to town to talk to "Guy"
'Benticore' connected
GM: ok ok... soo........ you remember this bit of plot right?
Guy Damrosch is no longer at the Nentir Inn, the innkeeper tells you. "He's moved to his new offices. Near the Five-Arch Bridge, they are. Oh, and he left a message for you as well - said for you to inquire at the Chapterhouse of Avandra for the rest of your payment."
Dirren: Yes
Nosferatu (Tallis): the part where we think Guy is a bad dude, yes
Maester Robold greets you. "Congratulations - I assume you found the object of your quest. The merchant left his payment and a note for you with me." He hands your group a pouch of gold and a small parchment note.
My apologies for not having met you in person to receive your report, but I am very busy these days - changes to the office, and so on. Please send me a note if you think you have something from Kalton Manor I might be interested in. Otherwise, I thank you for your time.
Campaign saved.
Nosferatu (Tallis): ah yes, it was late ;)
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): I would tag along for this discussion
GM: OK, so that was the tail end of the plot... Tallis, Gerund, and Tsurras were there
Benticore (Tsurras): what was it we found of his
Benticore (Tsurras): I came late last time
Dirren: Nothing from what I could read of the notes
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Holy symbol. Evil disembodied voice.
GM: you had a chat with a ghost after you put him to rest...
Dirren: 'cept that.
The ghost appears a final time, but seems to waver as if in a stiff breeze. "You have good hearts, and I thank you. I will tell you what I know of the Treasure of Kalton Manor, but I hope to Pelor you never find it. Lord Kalton's vision led us to dig beneath the castle's foundation. Truly the black crystal we found should be named Kalton's Bane, for it was his downfall.
Shortly after it was found, the lizardmen attacked. They came from the dark river beneath the castle. Lord Kalton and I held them off, and I performed the cermony to hold them in the cavern after he fell. I believe the children - and the crystal - escaped. I thank you again for freeing my soul to rest in the light of Pelor. I can only pray the children of Kalton found safety from the crystal's curse."
GM: ahahaha... I hope that's enough reading for you
Tsurras: right...so we didnt FIND the crystal..just that it skeedaddles off somewheres
Nosferatu (Tallis): OK plot spoiler: we met an old ghost of a family cleric, he gave his life so the Kalton children might flee with the gem that they found, holding the evil at bay. We laid his corpse to rest and then took his holy symbol and went back to town.
Dirren: So... We need to get the crystal thingie.
Gerund: Or at least find out more about it.
GM: well, that's all very well and good, but for now... maybe you three could just waltz back into town or something so I can have you meet the others??
Dirren: True. So... Where did I come from? And how can I get those nice "in character" green words?
Dirren: test
TheWanderer (Dirren): test
Dirren: emote
GM: your words are being recorded in the log, it's a vast responsibility
Benticore (Tsurras): we're not in the Inn now?
Dirren emote
Tsurras: Good fellows, I say we head back off to the Inn
Dirren: Got it.
GM: Inn or Alehouse?
Campaign saved.
Tsurras: By INN, I mean Alehousse!
Gerund: Alehouse first? Booze?
Dirren: Booze.
Dirren: Done.
GM: Well, you did just return from a long trip.
GM: OK, you take a table at the Blue Moon Alehouse.
TheWanderer (Dirren): I needs me some brandy... perhaps that's where I meet you guys
Dirren hiccups as he sits down at your table
Gerund: And who might you be sit?
Dirren: Evening gents. You seem to be spending quite a bit of money
Gerund: *sir
GM: The time: early evening. The place: Blue Moon Alehouse. start your engines
Tsurras turns to his companions after downing three tankards of mead and a large plate of beef ribs
Dirren: I was curious if you might be in need of a new assistant? Mayhaps even a partner?
Dirren stares up and up at the much taller Tsurras, undaunted.
Tsurras: What is our next move? Surely if there is some evil afoot, we should chase it down and beat it silly, right?
GM: Their clothes are dusty, wet, and dirty
'Rubb Ed (Dave)' connected
Dirren wiggles and eyebrow.
Gerund: Yeah. This sounds like a somewhat vague, nebulous evil. But we should nonetheless chase it down.
Tsurras: Hello there stranger...what is your name?
Dirge goes over to the bar and orders a stout.
Tsurras: If you've got some skill and a strong stomach, maybe we'll have use of you
Dirren: Dirren Wende.
TheWanderer (Dirren): they're drinking, I like that.
GM: describe your characters again?
Campaign saved.
Dirge nods at Tsurras. "Well met again."
TheWanderer (Dirren): 4'2" is tall for a halfling, but he is well-kept and carries two longswords. A hand crossbow rests onhis hip
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Young. Male. Human. Cloak. Staff on the chair. Tired. Drinking.
Ardeth Coldblade: Hey, I finally got Vent up, although I don't actually have a microphone atm.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Dirge = Tiefling Warlord, does not look remotely like the character portrait. :)
GM: (mnemnosyn, when ardeth is made, just have her walk into the Blue Moon Alehouse - its the best drinking establishment in Fallcrest)
Ardeth Coldblade: Too right.
Dirren: Well, if you'll have me, I'd love to tag along for an day or two. See what you are all about.
GM: is ardeth ready to come in? remember to hit alt or ctrl if you want a remark to be ooc, ardeth
Dirge: You drinking tonight, Dragonborn? I think I owe you something after last time.
Tsurras: looks at the three empty tankards of ale
Tsurras: Hells yes Im drinking
Nosferatu (Tallis): hold the alt in when you hit enter
TheWanderer (Dirren): AFK
Dirge: That answers my question.
Tsurras: but we have someone here who might be willing to tag along with us
Dirge: Yo, barkeep. Another round for my compatriot here.
Tsurras: Dirren, this is Dirge, Combat Specialist and all around hard ass
Dirge: Oh? Do tell.
Dirren: Thanks. Your name sir
Dirge looks Dirren up and down, and raises an eyebrow.
Tsurras: you any good with those swords there, Dirren?
Dirge: What's your skillset, young man?
Dirren: I've been known to swing them around on occaision. I learned a lot from my father. What about you?
Dirge looks over at Tsurras, then leans over to whisper in his ear.
[w] Dirge -> Dirren: So, what's your take on the kid here?
[w] Dirge -> Dirren: *crap* wrong person! :)
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: So, what's your take on the kid here?
Ardeth Coldblade: Ok, cool. Got it.
[w] -> Dirge: (lol)
Campaign saved.
Dirren: Beg pardon sir, but I'm 22. This is my people's full size.
[w] Tsurras: I dunno, thats why Im gonna ask him, real diplomatic-like
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): You didn't actually hear that. I typed the wrong name for the whisper.
King Mob: Now you talked in ooc to everybody
TheWanderer (Dirren): If memory serves, there's halflings all over the joint in this town, yes?
King Mob: but I should warn you, I can hear it when pcs whisper to each other, hehe
Tsurras whispers loudly "I dont know. Hopefully he wont fall short of our expectations..."
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Which was intentional, GM, I swear. :)
Tsurras giggles
Gerund: Now, now. Be nice.
Tsurras sighs
Dirge smirks and grabs his tankard to hide a smile.
Tsurras: I'm too tired and thirsty to bee nice
Dirren: I love puns! Cheers!
Dirren raises tankyard.
Tsurras (shrugging): but if the man says he can handle himself, I'm inclined to take his word
Nosferatu (Tallis): from a long way off you hear Dirges name being carved into one of Tallis knives.
Abigail (Ardeth Coldblade): What's the emote control?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Slash e
Abigail (Ardeth Coldblade): Thanks
Tsurras: Okay Dirren
Tsurras: How about this
Tsurras: You come along with us
Gerund: He does look capable. And we just can't seem to keep good companions around these days. I say we take him at his word.
Dirge: Oh, gods...
Tsurras: use your skills, such as it is, and try not to get us all killed
Ardeth Coldblade Wanders into the bar and orders a pint of whiskey.
Tsurras: If you survive the next few days, you're in
Dirge: You would have to give him an opening, wouldn't you, Dirren?
Tsurras: If not...we'll find a lovely place to bury your bones, and I'll pour out some ale in your honor...deal?

Dirge looks at Tsurras.
Dirren: A little about my past, I used to be a trader in this town. It was one of my favorites. I was, not but a few weeks ago, part of another band of adventurers. But, I soured on their... management style. Tsurras,I ask only for the opportunity. Deal.
Abigail (Ardeth Coldblade): Sure thing

Dirge looks over at Tallis. "What the hell are you doing over there, and what is that noise?"
Dirren: What can you tell me about what you've been up to?
Tsurras looks conspiratorialy around the bar...then leans in close
Dirren: You seem to have been camping... or digging a ditch perhaps.
Dirge: Ah, a trader, huh? Did you do any business with House Azaer by chance?
GM: Ardeth, you notice some loud and dirty people who seem to have appropriated a table and several tankards of ale
Campaign saved.
GM: You definitely overhear their conversation
TheWanderer (Dirren): How would I check that DM?
Tsurras: Thats need to know there, Dirren...just know that we've seen the rough stuff, and have the scars to prove it...Have you Heard of Kalton Manor?
Ardeth: glances over at them curiously.
Ardeth glances over at them curiously, that is.
TheWanderer (Dirren): You can see my sheet I assume.
GM: Anybody can do a history roll on Kalton Manor if they need a refresher, but I'll have to type the response cause I don't have it written up
Dirren: I recall my father had, on occaision, sold some things into a few of their stores. I don't, myself, have any direct contacts in their organization.
Abigail (Ardeth): Bah, I haven't gamed online in ages. Sorry about the ooc.
Dirren: As I recall, they're a standup group of opportunists, as traders go.
Dirren: They always paid their bills.
Dirren: Much more I'm sorry but I can't say. My father's books were... destroyed.
[w] -> Dirge: where are we going with the Azer thing, do I know about it?
[w] Dirge: Nothing beyond what's common knowledge. Just my background was as part of the merchant army for House Azaer.
Dirren looks deeply into his tankyard, then gently burp.
Tsurras clears his throat, leaking droplets of molten fire on the table which he absently puts out with dribbles of beer
[w] Dirge: Just character ... stuff.
[w] -> Ardeth: Why don't you describe Coldblade and have her walk over or something? sorry you're out of the loop
Tsurras: As I was saying...We were working in Kalton Manor and heard tale of a...a...gem...
[w] -> Dirge: oh thanks! yeah I was hoping it wasn't part of my plot or anything
Tsurras: A crystal of unspeakable evil
[w] Dirge: If it was, it was a WAY lucky guess.
Gerund: Supposedly
Tsurras: A simple look woul corrupt the most innocent of soul...a mere touch would rot the flesh
[w] -> Dirge: I have to admit, haven't written any Dirge-specific plot yet :)
Dirge: No problems, Dirren. I've been a member of the merchant army for them, so thought maybe I'd have done work for you and such.
[w] Dirge: Eh, no worries. :)
Tsurras (we): aim to destroy it
Tsurras (proudly): sits back and drains another beer
Dirren: I see.
Dirge raises an eyebrow. "So, that's what was there, eh? Too bad I got called back by Lady Azaer."
Tsurras: Well
Dirren: Were you going to hit it with something? I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with unspeakably-evil-crystal-destruction.
Tsurras: not quite
[w] -> Ardeth: would you rather just meet them the next day? you'll have a legitimate character reason for doing so
Campaign saved.
Dirren: Okay..
[w] Ardeth: sure
Tsurras: What we FOUND was a musty old ghost, a cleric of pelor guarding the ruins
Tsurras: oh, and a MASSIVE BLACK DRAGON, FIERCER THAN A THOUSAND SUNS
Dirren: Hmm... Pelor. Curious.
[w] Dirge: BTW, off-topic, if the opportunity presents, I may ask to pick your brain about campaign creation. I've got an idea, but I've not DMd in, oh, forever.
[w] -> Ardeth: well, they're talking plot now, I'll wait till a lull to fast-forward. Or you can just jump in
Tsurras conspicuously plays with his Dragonling trophies
Dirge coughs, and starts spitting up beer.
[w] -> Dirge: Happy to, send me an email at samwise_jhu@hotmail.com or something
Dirge: Excuse me?
Tsurras: oh yeah
[w] Dirge: That works.
Tsurras: you werent there
Tsurras: you should have seen it, Dirge!
Gerund: He took...trophies...from our victory.
Dirren: Oh?
Dirren: I've not seen dragon trophies before.
Dirren: Are they still hot?
Dirge looks as the trophies.
Tsurras: Not to me...
GM: describe said trophies please - what part of the black dragonling did you cut them from
Dirge: Well... damn.
Dirren chuckles.
Tsurras hands over the dragonling trophies...they are really not much to look at...a few teeth, some scales, and a few horns from the top
Tsurras: They must've shrunk after I killed the bloody thing
Tsurras: Look, it was huge!
Tsurras: Massive!
Tsurras: It fought us with evil, dark magics
Dirren looks carefully at the trophies, marvels really. He holds the horn up to his head for size.
Gerund: And nasty clouds of darkness.
Tsurras nods emphatically
Dirren: Yes, clearly quite large.
Dirge rolls his eyes.
Dirren chuckles.
Tsurras: looks around to see if anybody is listening to his tales of derring-do
[w] -> Tsurras: can you suggest there was probably an evil necromancer at the root of it?
Dirge: Excuse me while I go get a shovel to muck out the bar.
GM: Tsurras, you're being watched by a female dwarf at the bar
Tsurras slaps Dirren on the back
Tsurras: See, Dirren knows the score!
Dirren: But, the priest is who I'm realy curious about. It was a ghost you say? A ghost of a priest?
Tsurras: Probably the nefarious plans of an evil necromancer, bent on birthing some horrible eldricth...uh...horror...into the world
Dirren spills his drink and nearly looses his wind benig banged against the high table.
[w] Tsurras: is she cute?
[w] Tsurras: for a dwarf?
GM: (if you read the chatlog, you guys found out his name was Father Malkin, a cleric of Pelor 100 years ago)
Campaign saved.
[w] -> Tsurras: yes
Dirge leans over to Tsurras again.
Tsurras shrugs...he was a priest...we found his body and his symbol of pelor and gave him a proper burial after the fight
Dirren: So, he's been there for some time.
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: How long did you take to come up with these stories?
Tsurras nods
Dirren: And his powers were needed to hold back the... the what?
Gerund: Yes. This ghost claimed that he sacrificed himself to protect the Kalton's from the evils that they had unearthed.
Tsurras gestures towards the dwarf watching him..
Dirge looks over at the dwarf.
Dirren: I see. And why exactly is it that you care?...
[w] -> Ardeth: you about ready to come in, or would you really rather I force you to come in the next day?
Tsurras: You there! Don't Be Shy! If you want to hear more tales of Tsurras and Co., come on over
Tsurras: Theres enough beer for all!
[w] Dirge: Do I recognize her?
Abigail (Ardeth): Interface issues, sorry
[w] -> Dirge: I don't think so, she's from a clan outside Fallcrest
Dirren looks over his shoulder, then quickly back, eyes wide with mock horror at the dwarf-tress.
[w] Dirge: Got it.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: what stories? This is the unvarnished truth!
King Mob: oh good, I was wondering why you were ignoring my whispers, haha
Dirge raises an eyebrow at Dirren.
Ardeth wanders over to the table and rests her very large battleaxe against it.
Tsurras offers up a beer to Ardeth
Dirren: Ahoy!
[w] -> Ardeth: describe yourself - I already had someone whisper me if your char was cute, haha
Gerund: Greetings madam.
Tsurras: And who might you be, mighty dwarven warrioress?
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Considering the issues we were having with goblins and the like, I'm thinking a dragon might have been a bit more of a challenge.
Tsurras snorts
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Not to mention tht I'd think you'd have needed to wash your pants out for a while after running into one.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: challenge? The damn thing could summon clouds of darkness at will! Luckily I was there and smote it with
Tsurras: '/w dirge punchline here or we'd be goners
Ardeth Ardeth is 4'6" with long, black hair and thoughtful blue eyes. She wears a holy symbol of the Raven Goddess at her breast.
King Mob: You guys have to stop whispering about the dragon fight, this stuff is priceless
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Let people read the chat log and figure out why the two of us are snickering to ourselves. ;)
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: if you want me to show you how I slew the thing, just ask Dirge...you dont have to beat around the bush
Tsurras laughs
Tsurras: Well met, Ardeth
TheWanderer (Dirren): any way to change the font size on this chat window?
Tsurras: I couldnt help but notice you...uhm...noticing us...
Campaign saved.
Dirge gives Tsurras a look askance.
Ardeth: I am Ardeth Coldblade. I couldn't help but hear you talking about the death of a cleric.
Ardeth: It took me a moment to realize that it wasn't a... recent.. event.
Tsurras: oh no
Tsurras: we dont kill cl\
Tsurras: um clerics
Dirren: Yes. We were just getting to the, uh, point I think.
Tsurras: not on purpose
Gerund: We don't generally do that. Unless they worship one of those evil gods...
Dirge: Great. Two jokesters. My life just got oh so much more pleasant.
Tsurras: Or are drunk on eldritch power
Gerund: And that hasn't really come up yet.
GM: why do I imagine Tsurras looking sheepish right now?
Dirge chugs his beer.
Dirren: Good, glad to hear it. It's the evil bit that pushed me from my last employer.
Tsurras looks sheepish...or he has gas
GM: I'm trying to imagine a 300 lb dragonborn looking slightly abashed
Dirren: Barmaid! Another round for my friends here... And the lady!
Dirren: This one's on me.
TheWanderer (Dirren): Yes please
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): sure
Benticore (Tsurras): lets do it to it
Abigail (Ardeth): too right.
King Mob: (POLL) Fast forward for the next day - we can say you caught Ardeth up on most of the plot
GM: OK, let's assume you told Ardeth about the lodgings for adventurers at the Chapterhouse hostel.
Nosferatu (Tallis): I was tempted to switch to katars actually ;)
Campaign saved.
You wake up the next day to a knocking on the hostel door. Maester Robold hastens you all out of bed and asks you to see Eliza - seems it's an emergency
GM: reactions?
Tsurras is grumpy
Gerund: Hastily grabbing my staff, I prepare to exit
Dirren: is mildly hungover. He's attempted to keep pace with Tsurras last night.
Dirge wakes up, grabs his equipment, and starts making his way downstairs.
Tsurras squeezes himself into his armor, grabs his weapons, and gets ready to move
Ardeth Gets up, slips into her armor, and calmly strides downstairs.
Dirren gets his gear together, rinses the bile from his mouth, and sheathes his weapons
GM: ok, you all make it into the Chapterhouse main room one way or another
Eliza Meribow meets you in the main room of the Chapterhouse. "Put a group together, head out right away - while there's still daylight. There's an urgent problem at the Fallcrest graveyard, some kids just came back and said the undead are stirring. Don't worry about payment for this mission, I'll scrape up something for you."
Dirren: Who is this Eliza operson again?
Dirren: Thanks for the info...
GM: she runs the Chapterhouse - she's the head cleric of Avandra in fallcrest
Tsurras: Undead?
Tsurras: Where did Kavan get off to?
Dirren: Stirring?
Dirren: You mean beverages, right?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Boo hiss.
Dirren: Because I like mine shaken.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: maybe their cooking something
Tsurras eyes the group
Ardeth: Indeed, that is a grave evil, and one that must be dealt with posthaste.
GM: She looks around at the group
Gerund: Well, shall we get going?
Tsurras: I think Undead Cooking Stuff, falls under the category of evil
Tsurras: lets roll
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Sure, we're facing a group of hostile undead Dwarven chefs who've come back to get revenge for adding salt to their fried potatoes.
GM: Eliza: By the way, nice to meet you, Dirren, Ardeth. Shame we don't have time to talk, really.
"Oh, and by the way - I'd count it as a personal favor if you went into the Kalton family crypt and made sure everything is secure there. I have a feeling the Kalton family problems are just beginning."
Gerund: Did the children give any indication of the type of undead?
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: SALT on Fried Potatoes? Blashemous Curs!
Dirren: Feeling is mutual, I assure you.
Dirge: We'll take care of this, Eliza, don't worry about it.
Eliza Meribow: No, they saw something creepy and ran away.
Ardeth: Wise children.
Eliza Meribow: I wasn't able to get a good description out of them.
Dirren: Creepy how? Creepy as in creeping or as in dessicated flesh?
Tsurras: We'll have the problem well in hand before the day is through
Eliza Meribow: Frightening, as in how I'm about to look if you're standing around here much longer.
Dirge looks at Eliza in surprise.
Dirren: I see. Well then. Where about is it?
Tsurras takes the hit and high tails it out the front door
Eliza Meribow: So - any questions? Look for undead, put them to rest, check out the Kalton family crypt, come back alive.
Campaign saved.
Dirge: I didn't think you had that in you.
Dirge: Okay, off we go then, everyone out.
Eliza Meribow laughs heartily
Tsurras is trying to figure out which direction the graveyard is
Dirren: Check check and check... and then you cut us a check. Don't forget that bit.
Tsurras -> Skill [Perception] [16] [1d20+2 = 16]
Eliza Meribow: Right, I'm off to scrape up the funds right now.
Dirge: We can worry about the cash down the road. Let's protect the city first.
Dirren: Well, let's get to it then.
Gerund: I exit
Eliza Meribow: Ah whoops, now I realize you don't necessarily know where it is - about a half hour northeast on the trail.
Dirren follows Tsurras outside.
Dirge chivvies everyone out of the room.
King Mob: (POLL) fast forward yet again?
It is afternoon when you reach the pauper's graveyard that marks the entrance to where the citizens of Fallcrest bury their dead. While the wealthy of Fallcrest could afford crypts and tombs to wall their dead in stone, the poor are buried in wooden boxes, sometimes uncovered when the river strays to the east.
The sodden earth of the trail clings to your boots, and the graves on the hill above seem covered by a sea of mud. A chill wind from the north brings the smell of gravesoil to your nostrils, and you see the risen dead await you on the top of the hill. Soundlessly, they charge down the hill to meet you.
Dirge: Crap.
Gerund: Do much for the element of surprise.
Tsurras aint afraid of no ghost
Dirren: Oh dear. They shamble quite effectively, don't they?
Gerund: I stand behind a paladin.
Eliza Meribow: roll initiative?
Dirge: Warriors up front, casters and shooters behind us.
Ardeth -> Initiative [1] [1d20 = 1]
Dirge -> Initiative [9] [1d20+2 = 9]
Gerund -> Initiative [10] [1d20 = 10]

Ardeth -> Power [Holy Strike]
Abigail (Ardeth): Sorry, mistype
Dirge: Oh, +2 initiative for everyone, BTW.
Tsurras: do we have a map?
Dirren moves to the front.
Dirren stays low... It's not hard for him.
Abigail (Ardeth): Where's the map?
Campaign saved.
King Mob: ok everybody set now?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): I'm good.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): sure
TheWanderer (Dirren): sure.
Benticore (Tsurras): ready
Abigail (Ardeth): ready
Eliza Meribow: Above you you see a variety of undead forms - skeletons so decrepit as to seem they're almost falling apart; zombies; and a more dangerous looking skeleton
Decrepit Skeleton -> Shortbow (vs. AC) [22] [1d20+6 = 22]
GM: Decrepit Skeleton -> Shortbow (vs. AC) [22] [22]

GM: Decrepit Skeleton -> Shortbow (vs. AC) [17] [17]
GM: Dirge, does that hit your AC?
TheWanderer (Dirren): Sorry, I"m reading now...
Dirge: Yeah
GM: you're hit for 3
Dirren
Ardeth -> Power [Holy Strike]

Nosferatu (Tallis): I thought you had to chosoe to be a word or ranged ranger....
Nosferatu (Tallis): similiar to rogue artful dodger/savage brute choice.
King Mob: you do - but Twin strike works at melee and ranged
Dirren: [10] [1d20+5 = 10]

GM: Dirren is grabbed by the zombie
Tsurras (sadly): Well, it was nice knowing Dirren
Dirren: Get your shitty hands off of me!
Dirren flails tiny, adorable feet.
Nosferatu (Tallis): here comes the tentacle hentai!

GM: is anyone actively looking for something interesting?
Dirren: Hmm... Anyone know anything of religion? I'm dying to know who these undead are.
Tsurras: Dirren? You still allive?
Lodin pulls out a cloth and wipes his rapier clean before sheathing it.
Dirren: Yeah, I"m good.

Abigail (Ardeth): I'll do zombies
Tsurras: for every battle you make it through, you have to buy us a round, new guy
Nosferatu (Tallis): the first undead Skeleton was raised from a woman named Kate Moss as a point of trivia, noone realized it for nearly a decade.
Tsurras shrugs
Tsurras: thats the rules
Abigail (Ardeth): Hee!
Dirge: Who is this new person anyhow, Dragonborn? Seems you two know one another.
GM: Tsurras, skeletons are free-willed and often attack anything then encounter
Tsurras motions for everyone to gather round
Dirren: I'm game for that, Tsurras. I'd prolly do it anyway. Good how all!
GM: skeletons such as the larger one you fought are pretty dangerous enemies, they have a marking ability that makes them hard to move past
Tsurras (sagely): In my travels, I've discovered that skeletons are free willed and often attack anything they encounter...
Abigail (Ardeth): zombies
Lodin looks over at Dirge and approaches him with a slight bow.
Lodin: Lodin Kalton is the name.
GM: Lodin, you notice an interesting glitter by the skeleton's arms
Dirge raises an eyebrow.
Dirge: Kalton?
Tallis bonks Lodin from afar.
Tsurras: yeah
Tsurras: isnt that a coinkydink?
Dirge: Of the Kalton Manor Kaltons?
Tsurras: yeah
Tsurras: he spoke with the ghost of kalton manor
Nosferatu (Tallis): Tallis isn't there, he is in town still.
Dirren: Oh, nice to meet you.

Dirge: Oh really now. Well, intriguing. Well met, Kalton.
Lodin reaches down to grab the glitter.
Lodin nods as he is investigating the corpse.
Tsurras admires Ardeth's shiny platemail
GM: Ardeth, zombies often grab? I dunno... crits destroy them?
Ardeth: An ally against Orcus's minions is always welcome.
Tsurras: I'm gonna have to get me some of that!
GM: Sorry, this lore is not really that useful
Lodin (distracted): Yeah. I heard you all are after my family's secrets.
GM: Lodin, you pick up this:
Ardeth nods to Tsurras.
Lodin glances over towards Tallis with a wink and a twinkle in his eye.
Tsurras: Nice
Gerund: Could I have a closer look at those?
Dirren: What luck!
Ardeth: It's saved my life more than once. My mother crafted better, but it is adequate.
Lodin pulls out the Bracers and holds them up for everyone to see.
Dirge: Oh, interesting.
Tsurras: hmmm
Tsurras: doesnt slow you down at all
Ardeth admires the bracers.
TheWanderer (Dirren): can I make a dungeneernig check to see if these undead came from this graveyard or a nearby dungeon?
GM: Don't forget to heal up with surges, anybody who's still damaged
Gerund -> Taking Short Rest
Lodin hands the bracers to the wizard to inspect.
Dirge sits and wraps his wounds with some bandages from his pack.
King Mob: you haven't quite gotten to the graveyard proper - you're a bit south of the pauper's graves
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Going to be on the phone for a bit. Will be able to respond via text chat, etc.
Dirren does the same to his wounds.
Gerund -> Skill [Arcana] [10] [1d20+9 = 10]
Gerund: Yeah - they're metal...and...rusty...
Kolbo (Lodin): Doh...didn't realize Tallis wasn't here. This will make it easier. haha
Dirren: Looks around the graveyard to see if he can read any of the headstones.
GM: ok, after you're done with your rest...
Abigail (Ardeth): Chugga chugga
Gerund: Attempts to locate the Kalton family crypt
Climbing to the top of the hill, you find a bizarre scene spread before you. The gate to the graveyard of Fallcrest is open. Inside the undead stand waiting in patient ranks, as a white creature in dark robes enters a stone tomb. The undead behind him enter the tomb as well, and the tomb's entrance closes with the grate of stone on stone.
Lodin stands up and takes in the new group he has joined.
Dirge: The hell?
Dirren: That's quite unsettling.
Tsurras: did you see that?
Ardeth: Minions of the enemy!

King Mob: no, my bad. keep the damage and the surge...
Dirren: Did anyone quite see what kind of undead those were?
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): And the creature in the robes, can we discern any more details about him?
Lodin takes a look around for any stragglers that may not have gone down the crypt.
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [16] [1d20+7 = 16]
Dirren: I noticed a considerable bit of shambling, not much more.
[w] Dirge: Did my Arcana roll do anything?
Ardeth -> Skill [Religion] [21] [1d20+5 = 21]
GM: OK, I'll take perception checks for more info about the undead, and religion to know more about the white creature
Lodin: Don't see undead lined up all in a row all to often.
Abigail (Ardeth): To recognize what kind of undead..

Ardeth: [16] [1d20 = 16]
Abigail (Ardeth): sorry, just moving the die
Tsurras: did we find out how many went down there?
GM: Ardeth, that's a great Religion check. OK, you can identify the creature - it's a Deathlock Wight and tends to attack at range
Abigail (Ardeth): Can't hear vent
TheWanderer (Dirren): Less than 10, more than 4
Lodin: By the looks of it at least four....but I would not say anymore then ten.
Campaign saved.
Abigail (Ardeth): Ok, can hear again
Tsurras: okay
Lodin: Not counting the robed figure.
Tsurras really wishes kavan was here
GM: Dirren, you saw eight undead following the robed white figure
Dirge: This is looking more and more annoying as this goes on.
Lodin rubs his chin and looks to see how many this group has from the holy orders.
GM: ok, that's enough rolling for one day. What do you guys do?
Tsurras walks up to the crypt
Tsurras: Get your bows and slings ready, folks
Tsurras: we're goin in
Dirge walks slowly up to the crypt, checking to see if there are any other zombies or something in the vicinity.
GM: They're in the tomb and the door closed behind them
Lodin shrugs and follows Tsurras with a grin.
Tsurras: Ardeth, come help me lift this tomb
Gerund: Queitly, perhaps, so we don't have to fight them all at once?
Lodin: I'm with ya, Tsurras.
The door to the crypt is closed, and there does not seem to be a keyhole. Instead, you see three symbols - a griffon, the sun, a tree, and a star.
Ardeth assists Tsurras
Tsurras counts the symbols
Kolbo (Lodin): *cough* that's 4 symbols
Tsurras thinks that looks like four symbols but is unsure...
The door to the crypt is closed, and there does not seem to be a keyhole. Instead, you see four symbols - a griffon, the sun, a tree, and a star.
Nosferatu (Tallis): technically the sun is a star...
Dirren -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [21] [1d20+8 = 21]
Tsurras: no its not
Kolbo (Lodin): haha, we can give that to him on a technicality
Dirren: Shoosh, I'm concentrating.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Is the sun a star in this universe?
Tsurras: The sun is just a giant fireball that Pyros, the god of burning threw at Nectis the Goddess of night
GM: Dirren, you believe the locking mechanism is tied up in the puzzle right in front of your face. Also, you think there may be a trap involved if you mess up.
Tsurras: so
Dirren: Well, anyone recognize thes symbols?
Dirge: Okay, religious types... who represents the Sun?
Tsurras looks at dirren
Ardeth: Pelor
Dirge: Tree?
Tsurras: Can we just...uh...Bash it in?
Ardeth: Melora
TheWanderer (Dirren): backs away from the door surreptitiously.
Dirge: Griffin?
Ardeth: No clue
Dirge: and Star?
Ardeth: Maybe Ioun?
Gerund Will attempt to determine if the symbols have a magical significance
Gerund -> Skill [Arcana] [26] [1d20+9 = 26]
Dirren: Are the symbols movable? Need we orient them?
GM: feel free to suggest other knowledge checks you guys want to use
Dirge: Well, the griffin seems to be the odd creature out of the four.
Ardeth admires Gerunds significant arcane knowledge.
Tsurras peers over Gerunds shoulder...
Campaign saved.
GM: Gerund, they are not symbols used in magic - at least, they aren't arranged as magic symbols. Look like heraldry, perhaps?
Abigail (Ardeth): May I roll religion to check the symbolism?
Tsurras breath is hot and stinks of brimstone
King Mob: yep, religion sounds good
Kolbo (Lodin): Can I get tot he trap and possibly do a thievery check on it?
Dirren: Anyone with a bit of history in them?
Ardeth -> Skill [Religion] [11] [1d20+5 = 11]
Dirge waves his hand in front of his face.
King Mob: yeah, good idea lodin
GM: Ardeth, the sun looks a lot like the symbol you're wearing...
Dirge: History of the symbols is what I'm rolling on.
Kolbo (Lodin): Wasn't sure if it there was some way I could
Ardeth: May I try history as well?
Dirge -> Skill [History] [8] [1d20+7 = 8]

Lodin -> Skill [Thievery] [21] [1d20+8 = 21]
GM: ok, hold on a sec. Dirge, you're pretty sure the sun has something to do with the history of fallcrest.
Tsurras sits down on a nearby stump...theres a whole lotta cogitatin' goin on
Ardeth really isn't a paladin of Pelor
Ardeth: ...
TheWanderer (Dirren): That sound certainly gets your attention.
Dirren: The history of Fallcrest, eh?
Dirge: Sun... there's something with Fallcrest that that Sun symbol relates to... I'm trying to remember what...
GM: Ardeth - you remember something you heard about the Kalton family - something about there being a griffon and a sun on their family crest. You don't remember what combination, however - if you tried just a little harder...
Benticore (Tsurras): paladin of Ravenqueen right?
Abigail (Ardeth): Yep, whose symbol isn't terribly sunlike ;)
TheWanderer (Dirren): can I assist her? Doesn't she get +2 or something if I assist her?
GM: Lodin, you know there's a trap here but you can't quite find it yet. Try a perception check next?
Tsurras pulls out a leg of beef, slow roasted with rosemary, sage, and bitterleaf and begins to chew thoughtfully
Kolbo (Lodin): ok, got ya
[w] Dirge: Rolling Insight to see if I can glean something.
Abigail (Ardeth): :P
Dirge -> Skill [Insight] [13] [1d20 = 13]
King Mob: durr, I apologise - the sun looks like a symbol of Pelor, not the raven queen
Lodin attempts to locate the trap, carefully examining and feeling around.
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [10] [1d20+7 = 10]
Tsurras: Find anything Lodin?
GM: Dirge, you're pretty sure pressing the symbols in a particular order is the key.
GM: Can't see them, Lodin. try again later.
Abigail (Ardeth): Why thank you, and too right. She's very much at peace with the natural processes of life and death. Particularly death.
Campaign saved.
Dirge: Ah! Kalton! What do you remember about your family's crest symbol?
King Mob: ahahahah
Tsurras snaps his finger
Dirren: Of course!
Tsurras: Thats right
Lodin stands up a little befuddled after being told there was a trap.
Abigail (Ardeth): Hee!
King Mob: soooo appropriate
Tsurras: Lodin, this is YOUR family
Dirren: Yes, just punch in the code Sir Kalton.
Tsurras: open the damnable crypt and lets get on with this
Dirren moves two steps back.
Ardeth watches Lodin expectantly.
Lodin eyes get wide for a split second at the sudden attention and then looks down for a second to get his thoughts.
Gerund: moves three steps back
GM: Anyway, Ardeth is pretty sure it involves a griffon and a sun. Or two griffons? two suns? hm...
Ardeth: I'm certain that the Griffon and the Sun are Key, Sir Kalton.
Lodin: Yes the griffon and the sun. Those are my family's symbols....
Abigail (Ardeth): Who has int?
Lodin -> Skill [Bluff] [8] [1d20+7 = 8]
Kolbo (Lodin): doh, busted
Ardeth -> Skill [History] [20] [1d20+5 = 20]
Tsurras stares blankly at Lodin
GM: Lodin looks pretty guilty right now
Gerund Assists Ardeth wrt history knowledge
Gerund -> Skill [Insight] [8] [1d20+7 = 8]
Tsurras -> Skill [History] [5] [1d20-1 = 5]

Lodin -> Skill [History] [16] [1d20 = 16]
Dirren -> Skill [History] [2] [1d20 = 2]
Dirge: Seriously? You don't recall your own family crest, Kalton?
Abigail (Ardeth): Too right. I'll aid dirge.
Gerund: It must have slipped his mind...
Tsurras: Well, maybe they changed the crest?
Dirren: Have you had some kind of trauma... head trauma?
GM: OK try again, aiding Dirge?
Lodin turns his back to help hide the guilt while he tries to think fast.
Ardeth: I do
Abigail (Ardeth): No int.
Lodin turns back around and uses his hands to talk.
Ardeth -> Skill [History] [20] [1d20+5 = 20]
Dirren aids. +2.
Lodin: I was young when I was forced to flee my family after the disaster.
Tsurras: Aids +2
Ardeth so +2
Abigail (Ardeth): yep
Campaign saved.
Dirren Right, Lodin. I see. You must be quite old then.
Tsurras -> Skill [History] [14] [1d20-1 = 14]
Tsurras: woo!
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): to help dirge:
Tsurras is helping with the knowledges and the histories!
Gerund -> Skill [History] [7] [1d20+4 = 7]
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): ...and fail
Tsurras looks around for a long stick for poking magical symbols
Abigail (Ardeth): +4 so far
Lodin: Well Ranger, I have seen many winters.
Abigail (Ardeth): From aiding
Dirge -> Skill [History] [14] [1d20+7 = 14]
Kolbo (Lodin): choke!
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): *bonks head on table*
GM: ok, adding a plus 4 circumstance bonus for a long discussion
Gerund: Should we just have everyone stand back and I can try to blast the thing?
Dirge: NO
GM: that makes 18, then the plus 4 from the two people trying to help... anyone else want to aid the check?
Dirren: Raven, I might as well wank on it at this point.
Kolbo (Lodin): HAve I waited long enough to give it another shot for perception for the trap again?
Dirge: I *do not* need to see that.
King Mob: yep
Gerund: What do we think? I push buttons at random from as far away as possible?
Ardeth: Ok. Can I take 20 on the darn history check?
Dirren makes a crude hand gesture towards the door and paces a bit.
Abigail (Ardeth): Ok. Can I take 20 on the darn history check?
Dirge: So far, we know that there's a griffin and a sun involved. Any clue on the tree or star?
Abigail (Ardeth): Sorry about the ooc
Lodin in order to dilute the poor bluff he just tried to pull, he goes back to searching for this trap.
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [17] [1d20+7 = 17]
King Mob: nope, the situation is urgent
GM: Sorry Lodin, you can't quite see how the trap works yet
Abigail (Ardeth): Shall we try to aid him one more time?
Tsurras -> Skill [Perception] [22] [1d20+2 = 22]
GM: ok, I like this idea of triggering the trap....
Tsurras: for looking at the trap
Dirge: Okay... everyone stand back. I'm going to guess at it.
Lodin grumbles to himself as he keeps fidgeting off to the side of the puzzle looking for this trap.
'Nosferatu' disconnected
Ardeth -> Skill [Perception] [19] [1d20+2 = 19]
Dirren: Alright... 2 griffins, 2 suns... poke away with a stick seems good at this ponit.
Gerund: I can do it from afar if you want...
GM: Lodin, you notice small holes in the crypt door. They might be dangerous to stand in front of.
Ardeth: To aid whoever's perception roll.
Campaign saved.
Dirren two big steps to the side of the door.
Abigail (Ardeth): And I aided whoever was rolling on it
Dirge: Ardeth, I expect your help if I screw this up.
GM: ok, sorry - Tsurras noticed the holes - he can point them out to Lodin and Lodin can try to disable the trap
Lodin hears Dirge on his guess and steps three paces away and out of the line of those little holes he found.
Tsurras: hey
Tsurras: wait
Tsurras: Lodin, look at these holes
Dirge: Wait... holes?
Tsurras: can you...uh...do something about those?
Ardeth readies her healing supplies.
Tsurras points to the holes in the door where the stabby things will surely come
Lodin: Thanks, I noticed the holes already, but not sure where it is triggered from.
Dirren covers his eyes.
Lodin goes back to give it another try.
Lodin -> Skill [Thievery] [28] [1d20+8 = 28]
GM: OK, you come up with a good way to block up the holes. Go for it.
Dirren cracks his fingers a bit and peers out with one eye.
Dirren: I hate traps...
Dirge: Okay... here goes nothing, folks.
Tsurras (sagely): Dragonborn are natural dungeoneering folk
Dirge pushes Griffin, Sun, Griffin in that order
Lodin: Well, I think I got it.
GM: The crypt door opens
'Nosferatu' connected
Dirren: sighs.
Tsurras: Nice
Gerund: Well done!
Tsurras: Ardeth? You ready?
Dirge (smugly): Yep. That's me.
Lodin laughs and looks around.
Ardeth: Certainly.
Dirge breathes on his knuckles and rubs them on his armor.
Dirren: Thanks Sehanine.
GM: it's dark inside. what do you do about light?
Lodin: There was a secret Kalton switch that only the family knew about to enter.
Gerund: I pick up a rock and light it
Tsurras eyes the mage
Lodin: Sorry to keep you waiting.
Dirge: It's pronounced Dirge, not Sehanine.
Dirren: I have these sun rod things as well if that proves innefective.
Benticore (Tsurras): do dwarves still have lowlight?
Abigail (Ardeth): Yes, but not darkvision I believe
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): and not all of us are dwarves
Dirren: whips out a sun rod and tucks it under his belt, not lighting it yet of course.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): I think I have lowlight as well, FYI
Abigail (Ardeth): we should take this opportunity to put him in front.
Campaign saved.
Gerund hand the glowing rock to Ardeth, since she seems to be in the lead
Benticore (Tsurras): who?
Tsurras: um
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): I'm happy with where I'm located at the moment.
Abigail (Ardeth): Oh, the cowardly mage. Just joking though.
Lodin: Anyone have a light?
Tsurras: we got light from that there rock
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): brb
Tsurras points at the rock Gerund magicked up for to give the lights
Ardeth holds up the rock and waves it around.
Lodin: Excellent.
Dirren I'm back!!
Lodin looks around the confined space, using the light emitting from the glowing rock.
Ardeth: The wight attacks from a distance...
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [23] [1d20+7 = 23]
Ardeth: We should take care...
Tsurras readies himself to charge headlong into hell
Lodin looking for any kind of door or switch?
Abigail (Ardeth): yep
Entering the Kalton family crypt, your senses are assaulted by the scent of gravedirt. The stone door behind you closes as you enter. The wight and his minons are waiting for you!
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): back
Abigail (Ardeth): Yeah, no wights here.

Ardeth: Yep, I've got that. I have vent on; just don't have a microphone atm.
Dirge
Benticore (Tsurras): ha! I've got the FF battle themesong playing...I think I might switch to Thriller though
King Mob: Vent is seriously skipping for me
GM: everybody ready to act? Dirge's init

Deathlock Wight -> Grave Bolt (vs. Ref) [18] [1d20+7 = 18]
Deathlock Wight -> Grave Bolt [necrotic] (Damage) [6] [1d6+5 = 6]
Dirren stares at his adorable feet.
Dirren: Yes, well.
Lodin: Come on Scales, hang in there, mate.
GM: The Wight directs his energies to removing the wizard who created the flaming sphere
Kolbo (Lodin): haha, that wight is pissed, haha
Decrepit Skeleton -> Longsword (vs. AC) [23] [1d20+6 = 23]
GM: Hits dirge for 4
Dirge: Bah.
Dirge
Dirge: Shift
Dirge: Move
Dirge -> Viper's Strike (vs. AC) +2 [15] [1d20+8 = 15]
King Mob: That second move of yours is going to provoke an attack of opportunity
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): That's fine.
Decrepit Skeleton -> Longsword (vs. AC) [25] [1d20+6 = 25]
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): It's a skele...damn.
GM: The skeleton hits you as you're moving around, for another 4 damage
Dirge: Damn it! Ow!
Kolbo (Lodin): If I wonder towards the Wight is there an area around that wight where I might get singed by the Flaming Sphere?
GM: You missed the decrepit skeleton. This must be the toughest d. skeleton ever.
Kolbo (Lodin): Asking Gerund, since DM is focusing on Dirge's turn
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Anything next to the sphere hurts if you start you round there
Gerund
Campaign saved.
Gerund -> Scrorching Burst (vs. Ref) [16] [1d20+4 = 16]

Dirren
Tsurras -> Power [Radiant Strike]
Dirren -> (AW) Twin Strike Melee (vs. AC) [20] [1d20+9 = 20]
Dirren -> (AW) Twin Strike Melee (vs. AC) [25] [1d20+9 = 25]

Dirren: [5] [1d8 = 5]
Dirren -> (AW) Twin Strike Melee (Damage) [2] [1d8 = 2]
Dirren -> (AW) Twin Strike Melee (Damage) [1] [1d8 = 1]
Ardeth
GM: [18] [1d20+6 = 18]
GM: Ardeth destroys the decrepit skeleton with one mighty blow of her longsword
Dirge: Ha hah!
Dirren: I'm going to need to sharpen these things when we're through... or lighten them, I'm not sure which.
Gerund: [6] [1d4+4 = 6]
Gerund: Skeleton gets burned
Campaign saved.
GM: The skeleton screams and dies in fire. Er... redies?
Gerund: Wight too...
Gerund: [7] [1d4+4 = 7]
GM: The wight gestures and the skeleton rises again
Dirren: Kill wighty!!!
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): See what I said about giving the GM ideas?
Dirren: Oh crap, not again.
TheWanderer (Dirren): Yes, well...
Dirge: Screw this, I'm damn well done with this.
Dirren: I'm sure it was on his todo list if he wasn't asleep. :)'s at GM
Dirge screams and runs after the wight.
Deathlock Wight -> Grave Bolt (vs. Ref) [17] [1d20+7 = 17]
Deathlock Wight -> Grave Bolt [necrotic] (Damage) [11] [1d6+5 = 11]

Gerund -> Power [Chill Strike]
Tsurras -> Paladin's Judgement (Damage) [11] [3d10+3 = 11]
GM: You destroy the skeleton in one mighty blow
Lodin
Dirren shades eyes from blinding light of his judgement.
Tsurras (screaming): EAT IT BONE BUTT!!!
GM: Apparently sometimes when things rise again they're weaker than they were before
Campaign saved.
Lodin views this as an opportunity to have his chance at the Wight.
Kolbo (Lodin): Give me a chance to move him out of there with a positioning strike.
Tsurras -> Skill [Athletics] [21] [1d20+2 = 21]
GM: Tsurras leaps over the broken stonework with ease
Tsurras is VERY athletic for a dragonborn with a beer gut
Lodin -> Power [Positioning Strike] -> Attack: Dex vs. Will; Hit: Dex damage; You slide the target 1 square. Artful Dodger: You slide the target a number of squares equal to your Charisma modifier.
Lodin -> Positioning Strike (vs. Will) +3 [23] [1d20+6 = 23]

Lodin -> Positioning Strike (Damage) [5] [1d8+3 = 5]

Dirren -> (AW) Twin Strike Melee (vs. AC) [CRITICAL HIT] [1d20 = 20]
GM: first one missed. give me max damage for your weapon? what about the quarry damage?
Dirren: Longsword, 1d8
GM: Dirren's final blow with the longsword passes through the wight's robes. The wight makes no sound, but glares at Dirren - and vanishes from beneath his robes, becoming dust.
TheWanderer (Dirren): so 16
Gerund: Well struck!
Dirren: Wohoo!
Tsurras nods emphatically
Dirren: How's that for the new blood!
Dirge: That's what we needed to see.
Dirge: Good job, gentlemen, and lady.
Tsurras: still gotta buy the 1st round though, leathertoes
Lodin: gives a big grin cleans off his rapier as he gives his congrats to everyone
Dirren spins his longswords briskly, then sheathes them.
GM: You find a nice staff on the wight, and a good looking shield on the skeleton
Gerund: I allow my sphere to extinguish. But cherish the memory of its valiance.
Dirge: Speaking of which, stop staring at your feet, Dirren. We've got better things to do.
GM: More info will have to wait till tomorrow
Tsurras: what kind of shield?
Tsurras: oh
Tsurras: awwwww
Dirren: Good times!
Campaign saved.
Recovering from the wight's attack, you find he carried a pouch with 120gp and two amethysts worth 100gp each. And the weapons he and his skeleton bodyguard were carrying seem magical.

King Mob: ah well, that's okay - I told the thread we wouldn't start until 7:40. You're welcome to give me a call but I need to eat
King Mob: yeah, at this point you could even use a crummy headset, better than nothing
Abigail (Ardeth): nah, go ahead :) I'll play some persona in the meantime
King Mob: did you get my email? with the persona 3 tarot deck?
Abigail (Ardeth): I think so, but I haven't looked too closely at it because I've been nuts.
King Mob: ok, see you later - I'll be back on around 7:40
Ardeth: Kay, see you then
Tsurras: whats persona?
Ardeth: Japanese RPG for PS2
Ardeth: Sorry for the disappearing act last night, by the way. I fell asleep sitting up %)

Tsurras: holding the baby
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Hey - I'm here, but I'm watching the last half of Jeopardy, so not really.
Abigail (Ardeth): Sorry for flaking last night. I fell asleep sitting up.
King Mob: hey folks - this looks like enough for a wrap-up / treasure session
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): It happens. We live busy and tiring lives.
King Mob: First, I have to make a ruling, 4d - I was wrong 'bout not giving you the treasure from the skeleton in the first fight
King Mob: it's pretty mundane, so you guys can mess with it and get its stats during that first 5 min rest
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Yay! I don't suck at identifying stuff.
Ardeth: Yep. I'll pass. Maybe the ranger?
GM: notice its only extra damage on melee basic attacks... it would probably be okeay for the ranger, or anybody else with good strength
Campaign saved.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): If we had a Warlord with that at-will power what causes someone else to do a basic melee, it would be cool. Or for a fighter who's going to make a lot of AOO's.
King Mob: yeah, that's what I figured. so far as I care it doesn't matter where
GM: OK, there's been a request for xp from last night
Abigail (Ardeth): Woot! Hear hear!
Benticore (Tsurras): and treasure!
GM: Everyone gets 85 + 100 + 125 each. so 310 xp each.
GM: remember to tell the other 3 folks when they get here
Tsurras: Ardeth, you use a two handed axe, right?
Abigail (Ardeth): Too right

Recovering from the wight's attack, you find he carried a pouch with 120gp and two amethysts worth 100gp each. And the weapons he and his skeleton bodyguard were carrying seem magical.
Benticore (Tsurras): hmm
GM: so I don't know about the gold from the LAST game, I hope somebody figured that out or will figure that out, but here's some gold from THIS game
GM: whoops, messed something up
Benticore (Tsurras): there were 6 of us, right? so 20gp each?
TheWanderer (Dirren): That was a fast download...
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm stil calming down my wife, i'll be a few more minutes.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): I think I got about 35 gold and 100 silver from the last game. But I could have missed some...
Recovering from the wight's attack, you find he carried a pouch with 120gp and two amethysts worth 100gp each. The wight's staff seems magical and so did his skeleton bodyguard's large shield.
Benticore (Tsurras): was that from this latest one or the one before that where I came late?
Campaign saved.
GM: I think the 35gp / 100s is from July 9th
Ardeth rubs her hands together and tries to look inconspicuous.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Yes
Benticore (Tsurras): so 320/6 + 35gp and 100sp
GM: And if you guys want you can use the 'magical power of instant gem sales' and just say everybody splits up 320gp now... or else hold on to the money till the end of tonight
Benticore (Tsurras): either way
Abigail (Ardeth): Go go GM glossing!
Benticore (Tsurras): Whoop-whoop!
Benticore (Tsurras): =0)
GM: Well I don't care about the gold - you can't sell it in a tomb - by the way, you're needing to renew that light spell every five minutes at the moment Gerund, and you're running out of air (eventually)
Benticore (Tsurras): running out of air?!?!
GM: so let's get on with the other two shinies
Abigail (Ardeth): KingMob only cares about things he can potentially kill us with :P
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): The door to the outside closed?
Benticore (Tsurras): <--- has a feear of drowning and suffocating
Entering the Kalton family crypt, your senses are assaulted by the scent of gravedirt. The stone door behind you closes as you enter. The wight and his minons are waiting for you!
Tsurras: yeah
Benticore (Tsurras): so we need to get a move on
Gerund wonder if it was a good idea fter all using all that fire
GM: so... you guys just leave the staff and the shield here. cool with me, I'll just delete those items
Gerund: I would like to inspect the shield
Gerund: and then the staff
GM: ok, here's the shield - you don't need Arcana rolls for this anymore, btw, unless I say it's particularily hard to figure out what it does
Tsurras: Ardeth, if you are not going to use that shield I could use it
Tsurras: and then give you this belt...its pretty nice but it pinched my belly a wee bit
Tsurras -> Power [Ironskin Belt] -> When activated resist 5 to all weapon damage until the end of your next turn.
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm back
Ardeth: I preferr to deal my death with a larger blade, so I'd be glad to make the trade.
Tsurras: hey
Tsurras: Its not the size of the blade that counts...
Campaign saved.
Ardeth: You guys keep telling yourselves that.
GM: ok, what are you doing to test the shield?
Ardeth: Tsurras can have it.
Tsurras: let me hold it and have ardeth whack me with it
Ardeth: Hee!
Tsurras: then I can whack her back and not feel bad
GM: sounds good to me - it blocks like a normal heavy shield, but you feel you could activate it to protect you better
Tsurras dons the heavy shield and prepares to be smacked
Ardeth smacks Tsurras
Dirren: Give him hell!
Tsurras tried not to let on just how much that Hurt!
GM: ok, so you've identified the shield. Who is playing with the staff?
Gerund: Me
Dirren kicks about in the dirt and dust a bit...
Dirren: No swords anywhere, I see...
King Mob: someday...
Gerund sets a stone alight with the staff.
Dirren: Did you hear that? Nevermind...
King Mob: there was a +1 frost warhammer in game 1, I forget who got it
Ardeth is jealous.
King Mob: whoops, I take it back
King Mob: I had to take that treasure off the list because there weren't enough players - that NPC is still walking around with her warhammer, hahahaha
Gerund -> Taking Short Rest
King Mob: ahahaha
Campaign saved.
King Mob: basically the best thing I've given away in the game so far is that holy symbol I gave Kavan
Benticore (Tsurras): dd you need the stats for that Ironskin Belt?
GM: ok, so I'll give people a few minutes to get settled in, then we're going on with the plot
Abigail (Ardeth): Me?

King Mob: I think that covers everyone
Benticore (Tsurras): its just resist 5 to all weapon damage when activated
Tsurras: uh
Benticore (Tsurras): wow
Benticore (Tsurras): I just realized...i ALREADY used the belt...thats kind of a dick move on my part, isn't it?
King Mob: now the belt's a daily and it has been used so it won't be usable again till after the next extended rest
Abigail (Ardeth): Putting it on, and that's no big deal.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Did I wind up with anything, BTW?
Dirren jingles his purse, now a bit heavier than before.
King Mob: well, that's how the cookie crumbles... if you guys get out of the tomb, you should think about taking a rest maybe
Tsurras: dirren and dirge, add 53gold and 33 silver to your purse
Tsurras: you too ardeth
Dirren: Oh, not 35 and 200?
Tsurras: Im giving the extra copper to the flaming sphere...little guy earned it!
King Mob: thank you Tsurras for the mathiness
Dirren loosens those purse strings again.
Tsurras: it was 120gp and 2 amethysts worth 120 each
Campaign saved.
King Mob: The 35 and 200 were from the 9th of July
King Mob: So anybody who was in those like, 10 combats or whatever should have that money too
Tsurras: right
Gerund: The flaming sphere was grateful. It said so right before it goes out.
Tsurras: anybody remember what the loot we got for the very first night? with the stirge and fire beetles?
Gerund wasn't there.
Dirge: I think it was 20g, but not sure.
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm AFK or just 2 minutes.
King Mob: check the wiki later
Abigail (Ardeth): rich farmer, that.
King Mob: Now I REALLY hope people have been keeping better track of their xp
GM: anyway, so /vote ready for the actual game to start?
Dirge: Did we gain XP from yesterday? I just showed up!
GM: yeah, 310xp each for yesterday
Abigail (Ardeth): I don't think I've gotten any so far, so I've kept excellent track.
Abigail (Ardeth): Ah, strike that.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Did we do XP for the dragon at the end of last week? I was very out of it at that point.
Dirge: Nice, cool.
Tsurras: the only exp Im missing is the stuff from july 1 since I missed july 2nd
GM: That was 100xp, if you mean the fire beetles
Tsurras: yeah
King Mob: (POLL) ready to start playing already?
GM: ok brief plot recap anybody?
Campaign saved.
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm good.
GM: Dirge is typing
Ardeth: I could use one, since I didn't really catch up last night.
Dirge: Urgent summons by the Temple, sent to investigate undead uprising, killed off some uppity skeletons and zombies, chased them to the tomb of Kalton.
GM: great. then this happens
Dirren: Check.
Entering the Kalton family crypt, your senses are assaulted by the scent of gravedirt. The stone door behind you closes as you enter. The wight and his minons are waiting for you!
Tsurras: damn uppity skeltons
GM: then you have a fight, then this happens
Tsurras: No Sufferage for the Undead!
Dirge: And we kick undead ass.
Looking around, the darkness of the chamber seems oppressive.There are no torches or sconces, and the crypt's air is dry. Before you, in the next room, you find a curious sight - the lid of a stone sepulcher remains, but the sepulcher itself is nowhere to be seen.
Benticore (Tsurras): sepulcher = raised tomb?
Dirge: Why the hell would there be a lid without a tomb?
King Mob: yeah, I think that's what you call one of those stone coffins
Tsurras (sagely): they took it with them...
Dirren: What an excellent question. More importantly, who picked it up?
Tsurras: Maybe for use in a...um...Tomb Raiding ceremony?
Dirge (crossly): I think those are attached to slabs and are ridiculously heavy. Dumbass.
Tsurras: hey now
Tsurras: Im not the brains of this outfit...ask mister flaming sphere of knowledge over there...
Tsurras gestures to Gerund
Ardeth: Which would make whoever picked it up a matter for some concern.
Dirren: Well, any chance it was shattered? Perhaps is all around here?
Dirren: Correct, Ardeth?
TheWanderer (Dirren): remove teh ?
GM: want to count the number of sepulchers in the first room and see if any of them is missing a lid?
Tsurras: I'll take a look around and see what I can find
Tsurras -> Skill [Perception] [20] [1d20+2 = 20]
GM: what are you doing for light now?
GM: ok, where exactly are you looking, Tsurras
GM: first room or second, and where in each
Ardeth -> Skill [Perception] [14] [1d20+2 = 14]
Tsurras: I can light up my latern if Gerund is tired of making up the light
Dirge: Good idea. I'll poke my head into the first room and see if any of them are missing a lid.
Tsurras: I was going to look around the missing sepulchur
Dirge: (I have low-light vision)
Gerund: I keep using my light, but it isn't good enough for the whole tomb
Abigail (Ardeth): And likewise
Tsurras lights his lantern...he aint got no fancy shmancy low light vision...
GM: ok Tsurras, you look around where the sepulcher should have been. You spot stones that seem out of place - there's a sign of digging here in the floor.
Tsurras: hmmm
Dirge: I'm not looking for anything hidden, I'm just checking to see if there are any obvious missing lids in the first room.
Campaign saved.
Tsurras: Hey Dirge
GM: OK Ardeth, where were you looking?
Tsurras: Dirren
Tsurras: Check this out
Dirge swings his head back into this room.
Dirge: What's up?
Tsurras points to the out of place stones and the tell-tale signs of excavation
TheWanderer (Dirren): May I make a dungeoneering check to see who has done the digging?
Tsurras: what do you make of that?
Dirge: The hell?
GM: (Dirge, you didn't find any missing alid in the first room. they're broken but they're all there)
GM: Yeah, go for it Dirren
Ardeth: Looking at the edges of the sepulcher. Is the stone scratched or scarred?
Dirren -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [27] [1d20+8 = 27]
Benticore (Tsurras): NICE
Gerund: So they took away a tomb, and then dug underneath it?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Go Wandy!
GM: Kruthik. And you think you can start clearing out the rubble - looks like there's just a bit of scree blocking the entrance now
TheWanderer (Dirren): Kruthik?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Kruthik?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Jinx.
TheWanderer (Dirren): Damn
King Mob: (4D, they took away a coffin, not a tomb - and it looks like you've found out how they got it out)
TheWanderer (Dirren): Hmm, yes, and idea who did the taking from my 27 up there?
GM: Ardeth, the sepulchers remaining in the first room are all there, but broken. If you meant the lid in the second room, it's intact - looks like it was pushed over, but otherwise intact.
Ardeth: Kay, that answers my question.
King Mob: I said - Kruthik. You'll need a nature roll to know what that means
Ardeth -> Skill [Nature] [6] [1d20+2 = 6]
King Mob: They're a reptilian race that digs, that's all you know from the dungeoneering
Dirge: Hey, Dirren, you've been staring at the floor a bit now. What's up?
Dirren -> Skill [Nature] [9] [1d20+3 = 9]
GM: OK, Ardeth knows a bit about Nature. Hold on a sec and I'll tell you what she tells you.
Dirge: Hopefully something more than admiring your furry feet.
Dirren: Well, it seems that this sepulcher had been moved down through a hole of some kind.
Dirge: DOWN?
GM: Kruthik live in the Underdark, but they like to burrow any place that has dark enchantments.
Dirren: It would appear so.
Campaign saved.
GM: They live in hatching chambers in tunnels under the ground
Dirge: Gah.
Dirren: Luckily I never travel far w/out a length of rope... and a towel.
Ardeth: Ah, lovely.
Gerund: So they came out from the ground, took the tomb, and then whatever they did caused the undead to be hear?
Gerund: *here
Tsurras -> Skill [Nature] [14] [1d20+2 = 14]
GM: They can coexist with undead, and rarely can be controlled by other creatures - normally they attack on sight, however. And that's it.
Ardeth admires Dirren's towel.
Gerund -> Skill [Nature] [23] [1d20+7 = 23]
Dirren: Well, perhaps the undead came here because they took the sepulcher.
Dirge: I've got rope in my pack as well. No towel. Water runs off everything but my hair.
GM: Gerund, you remember some other stuff about Kruthik that isn't too relevant atm.
Dirren blots his brow gingerly with the embroidered towel.
Dirren: My mother's handiwork.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Heh.
Dirren tucks it into his back pocket.
GM: Oh, they tend to swarm - its not too healty to be near one, because they carry little mites and stuff
GM: that's really it this time now.
Dirren: So yes, down it seems to be. Perhaps I'll put my head down into this hole here and look about. ONe moment.
Ardeth: Lovely craftsmanship.
Ardeth gets a far off look.
GM: ok Dirren, are you opening up the hole?
Gerund: So, companions. Shall we give chase? Or report back to town first?
TheWanderer (Dirren): Oh, I thought it was
Dirren: Should I open the hole?
Tsurras: wait
Tsurras: we should make sure we're all healthy enough to go on
Dirge: What's the point of reporting it right now? They'll probably just send us back to take care of things, and we'd waste time.
Tsurras: I'd hate to have to bury any of you, seeing as how I just met you all a few days ago...
King Mob: (POLL) Give chase right now? Don't check if you'd rather find a place to rest
Ardeth: Those creatures will only regroup and return in larger numbers if we don't act soon.
TheWanderer (Dirren): We get another action point with 3 consecutive encounters w/out resting, yes?
Tsurras: can we take a short rest to heal up?
TheWanderer (Dirren): Or by resting I guess.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Did we get an extra one for the 2nd encounter last night without resting?
GM: Right now you guys have gained 1.5 action points. Some may have 2, some have spent one in the last fight.
Tsurras: last fight
TheWanderer (Dirren): I have a half then.
Tsurras: not the dragon fight?
Dirge: Ahh.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): We took an extended rest after the dragon
TheWanderer (Dirren): Oh, then I have one.
GM: You've already spent about 10 minutes resting / identifying stuff
Campaign saved.
Gerund -> Flaming Sphere (vs. Ref) [21] [1d20+6 = 21]
TheWanderer (Dirren): Okay... Then, I've expended 2 healing surges leaving me with 4.
TheWanderer (Dirren): I got them last night.
GM: Ardeth has used 3 I think
Ardeth: How so?
TheWanderer (Dirren): The healing surges reset after a long rest, not a short?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): I'm expending another one, so I'm down 3 so far for the day.
GM: The fight last night
Ardeth: I used one lay on hands...
GM: yep, you'll need an extended rest to get dailies and surges back
Dirren: You know, as far as swarming goes, I might feel better about the concept after a good nap.
King Mob: that was before you fell asleep, haha - you got shot by every undead in there
Dirren: Any takers?
Dirren raises hand.
King Mob: Dirge healed you also
'Kolbo' connected
TheWanderer (Dirren): No? Alright then.
King Mob: (POLL) OK, change your minds and take an extended rest instead? Do not check if you'd rather press on
Dirren: No? Alright then.
GM: OK, sounds like its into the tunnel for you...
Dirren has a quick nip from his brandy flask.
Dirren: Shall I open the dor then?
Ardeth thanks Dirge
Gerund: I'm fine, but if you guys really need it...
Dirren: er, hole?
OK, you head into the tunnel. Declare your light sources now.
Dirge: Yeah, carefully, though.
Tsurras: I have my latern
Dirge: Low-light vision
Gerund -> Power [Flaming Sphere]
Tsurras: I can turn it off if you need me to
TheWanderer (Dirren): I have one tucked in my belt, but I'd like to keep both hands free so none but my parties.
Ardeth: Low-light vision
GM: who is carrying Gerund's 'light' rock?
Gerund: Lighted rock
Tsurras: I put it away from the hole on the floor so it lights the whole room and a bit of the tunne
Ardeth: Hee!
GM: Are you leaving it there? because you guys don't see anything interesting in the tunnel, looks like you have a hike ahead of you
TheWanderer (Dirren): are there stairs? are we dropping in Marines style?
Gerund floats rock around whoever is in the lead
GM: No stairs but you're climbing down a loose scree
Campaign saved.
Dirge: Okay, let one of the warriors go first.
You follow a shallow tunnel into the earth. The earth about you is moist, but the tunnel walls seem stable enough. Before you you see the tunnel walls widen into a larger chamber.
Dirren 's adorable feet find purchase in the loose scree.
Tsurras shrugs
Tsurras: Time to earn that paycheck
Tsurras: I'll head in first
Ardeth: I'll go second.
Tsurras has the latern in one hand and the sword in the other
Dirren: I'd like to follow, I can flank as needed.
Dirge: I'll take last to cover any rear flank attacks.
OK, you travel for about a half hour, then you see a fork ahead
Tsurras emerges into the chamber, puts the latern on the floor and puts back on his shield
TheWanderer (Dirren): May I check to see how deep we've gone?
Gerund: I'll go just ahead of Dirge.
GM: take off your wounds if you've spent surges to do it
GM: and place yourselves on the map...
TheWanderer (Dirren): Looks good to me. Is one fork any more or less moist than the other?
GM: just arrange yourselves on the map all will be made clear soon
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Dun dun DUNNNNN
Campaign saved.
Abigail (Ardeth): Hey, at least you're awake; doing better than I did.
TheWanderer (Dirren): AFK for a min.
Small reptilian creatures hiss and chitter as you approach. You've reached a breeding chamber for these creatures - they swarm to attack, assuming dinner has been served.
King Mob: ok, btw - these are Kruthik, if you're curious
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Yeah...figured
GM: roll init please - don't forget the +2

GM: They're 4 legged, have big scales, little paws also...
GM: ok anyway, Lodin, they look to be about to try to eat somebody

GM: The young are slightly larger than the hatchlings, btw
Lodin -> Power [Sly Flourish] -> Attack: Dex vs. AC; Hit: 1d8+Dex damage; Damage is also +CHA modifier.

King Mob: she's on Vent but no headset. I swear she's really a girl, tho, ahaha
TheWanderer (Dirren): Check.
GM: You shoot the hatchling in it's tender chest. It squeals and dies.
TheWanderer (Dirren): That didn't require a damage roll?
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): minion
Lodin displays a grin as he reloads his crossbow.

Buried amongst the eggs and trash of the chamber, you find a potion of healing and 70gp amongst some human remains.
Lodin nods approvingly to Dirren as he wipes his blade and sheathes it.
Dirren takes a knee to catch his breath.
Gerund: taking a quick look around. How far do those tunnels extend?
Lodin moves beyond to try and get his bearings.
One tunnel proceeds to the south; another goes deeper into the earth. Which will you take?
Lodin -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [9] [1d20+2 = 9]

Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): assist roll here
Dirge -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [20] [1d20 = 20]
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Why can't I roll like that in combat?
Lodin crosses his arms and a hand goes to his chin. He lowers his head in thought.
Dirren -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [28] [1d20+8 = 28]
Dirren gets out his surveying kit.
Lodin: We just came from a Wight and his minions to these scaly creatures...
GM: OK great. For one thing, you're fairly sure you've traveled more than halfway back to town - it's roughly south of you. If you take the south tunnel, you'll be heading towards town from here.
TheWanderer (Dirren): doesn't really have one of those... He wets his finger and holds it in the musty air.
Tsurras: Thats interesting...
GM: You were heading west (back towards town) before you got to the fork.
Lodin: No doubt these tunnels houses a veritable cornucopia of mosters.
Dirren: Well... Seems we're almost there already.
Dirge -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [9] [1d20 = 9]
Lodin: assisting
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Bah
Lodin -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [11] [1d20+2 = 11]

Dirren -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [28] [1d20+8 = 28]
Dirren wets his other finger.
Campaign saved.
GM: OK, the tunnel you came from is the most recent. The one to the south was dug briefly before (like a day before). The one that goes deeper from the fork has been there for a long time.
Dirren touches the walls, scrutinizes them, tastes the soil.
Dirge pokes at the walls with his claws, loosening a small shower of dust and pebbles onto his head.
Gerund would like to see what we all know about the tunneling rate of Krithiks
GM: I like to imagine the party at this point is getting into a fairly interesting talk about soil composition, layers of rock strata
Dirge: Bored. Now. Can we get back to town please?
Dirren: Seems the kruthik are w/in a day of town.
Dirren: If they keep digging...
GM: The chamber you're in was dug first, a long time ago. Then they dug towards town. Then they dug toward the crypt.
Dirge: Look, if the south tunnel heads towards town, and it's pretty new, according to Dirren, we might find a way back to town that way, or a way back into the tunnels FROM town.
GM: BTW, does anyone want to try a tracking check to try to see where the sepulcher was dragged?
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): What skill is that?
Kolbo (Lodin): Tracking?
Kolbo (Lodin): Perception?
GM: Perception
Benticore (Tsurras): perception
Tsurras -> Skill [Perception] [17] [1d20+2 = 17]
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [16] [1d20+7 = 16]
Dirren -> Skill [Perception] [21] [1d20+8 = 21]
GM: Yeah, the marks are pretty clear in the dirt. It was dragged towards town.
Tsurras looks for the tracks of the wayward sarco...thingy...
GM: With Dirren's check, he thinks it was relatively recent.
Gerund: I'm tempted to go back to town from above ground, and see if anyone's cellar has collapsed recently...
GM: So - not more than 2 days ago
Dirren: So... we have someone, long dead, being brought by insects towards town.
GM: (not trying to suggest there's a blood trail here or anything)
Dirge groans.
Dirge: Eliza's going to just love that.
Dirren: That seems... awkward.
Dirren: Yes.
Dirren: We can't very well go up and run off to tell her. The things may very well beat us.
Gerund: Given that some of us seem like they'd benefit from a nice long rest.
Tsurras: so we're heading back to town...but NOT through the tunnels?
Lodin: I think it would be easier to find whose cellar collapsed if we come up from the ground...
Tsurras: yeah
Campaign saved.
Dirge: Fine, let's go through the tunnel and get back to town that way.
Gerund: Fine.
King Mob: (POLL) keep going?
Dirge starts walking towards the south tunnel.
Tsurras: lets take a short rest first
Lodin (gallantly): We'll be fine, let's just head back through the tunnels
Dirren: *sigh* Alright.
Tsurras: short rest?
Tsurras: anyone?
GM: you got the short rest already. I might suggest spending surges
Dirren: I'm just the new guy.
Tsurras: OH
Gerund: Yes - short rest.
Gerund -> Taking Short Rest
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Don't do that, Dirren. Suicide = bad.
Dirren: Sorry, good to go!
OK, you travel south and up for about a half hour. You begin to smell fresh air ahead.
Dirren feels uninspired.
You've reached rubble and dirt. The tunnel ends here.
King Mob: What do you do? What DO you do??
TheWanderer (Dirren): Check dungeoneering to se where in the town we are?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): I hold your head up until it gets whacked off by a light in a subway?
King Mob: yes please? one of those?
Kolbo (Lodin): have another soil composition discussion?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Yay?
Dirren -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [28] [1d20+8 = 28]
GM: You can A start budging rubble or B try to figure out where you are first
Gerund: Let's get our bearings
Dirren: removes shoe, digs one bare delightful toe into the dirt.
Campaign saved.
GM: OK Dirren, you are in the lower docks district.
GM: Nah, upper docks.
Dirren: This soil is a little extra moist. We are near the upper docks.
[w] Dirge: Isn't that where Guy Damrosch's offices are?
GM: Never quite reconciled how you get down the cliff, so yeah, upper docks
Dirren: Any ideas why we're here?
Dirren replaces shoe.
Dirge: Hey, Tsurras, do you remember where Guy's offices are?
[w] -> Dirge: actually, his offices are 'near' the upper docks, but not at them
Gerund: I mean, we think they took the casket through here, right?
Dirren looks to see in what manner this tunnel was sealed.
Lodin looks at Dirren. Starts to dig into the moist sections with a dagger.
[w] Dirge: Ah, okay.
GM: You guys haven't been to his offices yet so you're not exactly sure where
GM: Are you going to open it up or not?
Lodin looks for any sign of the sepulcher coming this way.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Right, but he said at some point when he first hired us... that's where I'm goign with this.
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [14] [1d20+7 = 14]
GM: yeah, you think so... at least you still see some marks you think were left by it...
Dirge: Roll to see if there's any danger in digging
Dirge -> Skill [Perception] [17] [1d20 = 17]
GM: You think you can move the rocks without them collapsing on you, yeah
Dirren: Hmm... I think we need to press on, find out where this goes. Clearly there's little danger of colapse.
Dirge: Looks safe as far as I can tell, men. Let's get to it.
Gerund: I suppose we owe it to Eliza to go through...
Dirren: checks to see is this rock fall was purposefully made.
Dirren -> Skill [Dungeoneering] [15] [1d20+8 = 15]
GM: The rocks were left at the end of the tunnel on purpose, yes - at least, to cover it up - you think
Dirren: Can anyone look for a trap briefly?
Lodin moves out of the way of the bigger companions to let them at the rubble.
Dirren: I'm ready to start moving these things.
GM: perception covered that
Gerund: So probably someone does have a hole in their cellar.
Dirren dusts hand, grabs a rock, and heaves.
Gerund: Yeah - let's go.
King Mob: (POLL) move the damn rocks already?
Gerund Stands back and directs the digging
Climbing out of the tunnel, you find yourselves in Fallcrest, behind an abandoned warehouse. At least, it seems abandoned... the night is dark, and you don't see anyone around. The building bears no merchant's sign, and you see no boxes or crates nearby.
Dirren pauses for result of vote.
Dirge starts grabbing rocks and handing them back to the others
Campaign saved.
Yeah by the way, you moved the rocks with no difficulty
Dirren: Shhh...
Gerund: Now I think perhaps we should report in, and then investigate.
Dirren: Let's not be overly loud.
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Ixnay on the ankingclay
Dirren: Wait, why would thee reptile critters come topside?
Dirren: Any sign of the dragging from here?
Gerund: Obviously, they are in cahoots with another party.
Dirren snaps his fingers.
Dirge: I couldn't tell if those... things... were intelligent enough to cahoot with anyone.
Dirren: Anyone have a divining rod? NO?
GM: why don't you try a perception check - but I warn you, it will be a bit tougher here where there are cobblestones rather than dirt - try to get some assists?
Lodin: Let's see if the seplucher was dragged this way. There seemed to be a faint trace down below.
Dirge whips his head around and glares at the halfling.
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [19] [1d20+7 = 19]
Dirge: SH.
GM: is that a roll or an assist
Dirren: I like that for a roll. I'd like to assist.
Dirren -> Skill [Perception] [13] [1d20+8 = 13]
Gerund: assist
Dirge: assist roll
Gerund -> Skill [Perception] [19] [1d20+2 = 19]
Dirge -> Skill [Perception] [4] [1d20 = 4]
GM: ok, good enough - you track the sepulcher to the back of the warehouse in front of you.
Dirge turns around to look and smacks into a box with his head.
Dirren: Now you shoosh!
Lodin turns and follows the trail, continuing to search for the sepulcher or any sign.
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [9] [1d20+7 = 9]
Dirge does a slow burn.
Gerund: Ok - my feeling - we leaving someone stealthy to watch the warehouse, while the rest go back for reinforcements.
Dirren: assists.
'Abigail' disconnected
Dirren -> Skill [Perception] [24] [1d20+8 = 24]
GM: hm? Lodin, you guys pretty much can agree it was dragged from the tunnel to this warehouse
Dirren: Alright, that seems wise.
Dirge: Works for me...
Lodin: Let's check out the warehouse, yes?
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm a +2 to stealth.
Lodin: I have +8 stealth
TheWanderer (Dirren): Nope.
Dirge: Maybe if we can find where the sepulcher ended up in the warehouse, we're good to go.
Kolbo (Lodin): ooc
Campaign saved.
TheWanderer (Dirren): I like the odds of that better.
Dirge: And then Eliza won't politely rip me a new one.
Lodin: Stealthy, eh? You guys are in more need of a rest then I am. I will gladly watch over.
GM: You guys have 3 AP now, minus the ones you may have spent . On the other hand, you don't have a lot of resources left.
Dirren: Hmm...
TheWanderer (Dirren): 1 AP for each encounter? Really?
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): every other
TheWanderer (Dirren): Ah.
GM: there have been 4 encounters, I'm counting the puzzle trap one
Lodin begins to forumlate how to maximize the return on this Kalton treasure.
Dirren: Okay, let's look into this warehouse.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): We lose them if we rest, though.
GM: That makes 2 AP counting the one you started with. When you rest you go back to 1.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): But in this case, it's worth it.
Lodin wants to sneak to get a view of the warehouse.
Dirren: Then be off.
GM: I mean 3 AP counting... aw dangit, you know what I mean.
Lodin -> Skill [Stealth] [13] [1d20+8 = 13]
Dirge: Someone listen at the door first, see if you can hear anything.
Dirren: I'll listen at the door.
Lodin slips next to the door and attempts to give himself an idea of what lies within the warehouse.
Lodin -> Skill [Stealth] [19] [1d20+8 = 19]
Dirren -> Skill [Perception] [24] [1d20+8 = 24]
[w] Dirge: Phone call... if anything comes up that I should be aware of, mind giving me a tell on here?
GM: OK, you hear... not much... maybe a little skittering inside?
[w] -> Dirge: ok
[w] Dirge: Thank you kindly.
Dirren: Hmm... There may be some rats, or some hatchlings. Hard to tell the difference I'm afraid.
Dirren: Go ahead Lodin. Gently.
Gerund: But nothing particularly sentient, that you can tell? So this may not be dramatically time sensitive?
TheWanderer (Dirren): Can I help him open the door?
Campaign saved.
King Mob: he's not opening it yet
Lodin attmepts to silently open the door and slip in undetected....if there is anything in there to detect him.
Lodin -> Skill [Stealth] [26] [1d20+8 = 26]
GM: The door is barred from the inside.
Dirren grins widely at Lodin's deft touch. Mouths "well done!".
GM: You might be able to lift the bar stealthily tho... have any Thievery?
Gerund: Oh - so someone's in there. Or there's another entrance.
Lodin -> Skill [Thievery] [25] [1d20+8 = 25]
King Mob: (this is the back door, remember)
TheWanderer (Dirren): I have a +4
Dirren: Nice!!!
TheWanderer (Dirren): er, ooc
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Oh - right
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Very nice!
GM: OK, you carefully lift the back bar without a sound
Kolbo (Lodin): Hehe, Wandy I have the stealth, and thievery handled
GM: the door is open and you can go inside - no one else tho
GM: roll perception
TheWanderer (Dirren): Good. Glad to have you!
Lodin -> Skill [Perception] [23] [1d20+7 = 23]
TheWanderer (Dirren): Just trying to assist, but not sure if that's possible in this situation.
Kolbo (Lodin): maybe if it was a really heavy bar
TheWanderer (Dirren): Ah!
TheWanderer (Dirren): Oh, map... bad sign
GM: OK, lodin takes a peek inside - the light you guys are carrying shines in enough for him to do so - he thinks he sees some really big rats
GM: they see the light and are trying to hide, but Lodin sees them - since they haven't tried to eat him yet he thinks they might not see him yet - he's flattened against the sill, or something -
The warehouse is a smelly mess of boxes and dry goods. The teetering stack of boxes to your left is piled to the ceiling, and looks like it could fall at any moment. You hear chittering amidst the boxes as well - there may be rats.
Campaign saved.
Lodin attempts to slip back out the warehouse after seeing three dire rats and hearing what could potentially be another swarm.
'Abigail' connected
Lodin: Well, gents...and lady. Rats. A couple of them at least, but there were some rather noticable sounds of more amongst the stacks of crates.
Dirren: Well, I dunno...
Lodin: Oh by the way...
Dirge: Hmmm...
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Welcome back, Ardeth!
King Mob: (POLL) Wait till the next day to brave the rats? Or don't vote, and you want to go kill rats right now
Lodin: There about as big as his head.
Dirren: We were tasked with the graveyard problem... We solved that, and this is a new problem. Perhaps we had best take council on it.
Lodin points to Tsurras
Gerund: Keep watch, wait until day.
Gerund: report to Eliza
Abigail (Ardeth): Thanks :)
Dirren: Yes, a good watch.
King Mob: yep, welcome back. You missed... some digging, I guess. And some good stealth / peception checks and roguish behavior.
Kolbo (Lodin): Good roguish behavior? Why thank you
King Mob: (POLL) go to Chapterhouse nowish?
Abigail (Ardeth): Ah, good. I'm always glad to miss an opportunity to be absolutely useless ;)
Gerund: One of us staying behind to keep watch?
Dirren: For sure.
Dirren looks at Lodin.
Dirge: It'd be foolish for us not to.
Campaign saved.
Lodin walks away motioning to the Range.
Dirren: walks with him.
Kolbo (Lodin): Ranger*
Dirren: Probably best for two to go anyway. Front and back and all.
Gerund: I can take the first watch, if you want. I mean, you know I'll be good at running away to get help if there's trouble.
Dirren: Perhaps I can hear them digging more or... something.
Lodin stops and sees Dirren follow. We'll handle it.
GM: Are you two going to take turns, so each of you get a chance to take a rest?
Dirren checks his brandy supply.
Dirren: Yes, we will.
Ardeth: I'll take a watch as well if you like.
GM: OK, who is taking the first watch?
TheWanderer (Dirren): I need to rest, I'm down to one surge.
Gerund: I'm in good shape surge-wise.
Ardeth: I have a bunch left. I'll take first.
Lodin goes and makes himself comfortable in a position witha good vantage point of any of the warehouse's comings and goings.
Dirren: removes his towel from his back pocket and folds it into a small pillow.
Eliza Meribow: OK, the rest of you go back to the Chapterhouse. You've agreed on a watch order and everything.
Eliza Meribow: ARgh dangit
Gerund heads back to chapterhouse, then.
TheWanderer (Dirren): Is Ardeth staying with us?
GM: Anyway, the rest of you head back to the chapterhouse. Lodin seems to be taking first watch
GM: Ardeth the next, etc. etc.
Dirren drools.
Abigail (Ardeth): I think so. I'm not terribly damaged; just in need of rest. That way everyone gets more sleep.
GM: OK so - when you get to the Chapterhouse, about five minutes later, you find Eliza still in her office.
TheWanderer (Dirren): back to 0 APs or 1 after a rest?
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): 1
Ardeth: 1
GM: Maester Robold is not there; but when you knock on her door, she lets you in.
Dirren snuffles gently, and drools more.
Eliza Meribow: You're back. Is the undead menace destroyed?
Gerund: Yes, we think, but there's something more.
Dirge: Well... we think so, but there's more to it than just undead.
Campaign saved.
Eliza Meribow motions for you to take a seat
GM: she seems to be waiting for you to continue talking
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): oh...right...
Dirge: So... we got to the graveyard, and found some zombies and skeletons that had been raised up.
TheWanderer (Dirren): do the reporters rest before or after reporting?
Tsurras: We put them back down again
Dirge: Hard.
King Mob: after
Gerund: So the undead disturbed the Kalton family tomb. And after defeating them, we found that a sarcophagos from the tomb had been taken through a tunnel.
Dirren: Not the lid though *snore*
Eliza Meribow: Through a tunnel in the tomb? but not through the graveyard?
Dirge: Exactly.
Tsurras nods
Dirge: A fresh tunnel had been dug to get the tomb.
TheWanderer (Dirren): ooc, sorry
Eliza Meribow: OK - so the undead went in the front door?
Gerund: Yes. Now here's the best part - we traversed the tunnel, and guess where we ended up?
Dirge: Yes, and we followed them.
Eliza Meribow: So the undead weren't necessarily from the tunnel - or else they were from the tunnel, and they were returning back
Eliza Meribow: OK, so where did you end up?
Gerund: Yeah...we're still a little foggy on that.
Dirge: Well, they may have been working with some (spider/lizard creature name here)s
Eliza Meribow: Well, did anyone think to look for tracks where you first saw the undead?
Dirge: We ran into a breeding room of those while we were down in the tunnels.
Gerund: But we ended up outside a warehouse in the outer docks of this very town.
Eliza Meribow: Whoa, now there are things breeding underground? Do you know the names of these things?
Dirge looks at the other two.
Gerund: Krithik
Dirge: Did we look for tracks? I don't recall.
Campaign saved.
Gerund: aside to Dirge: we...neglected to do so.
Eliza Meribow: Yes, there is a nest of Kruthik nearby. Shame to see they're active again - usually they don't come right into town -
Gerund: Stranger still that they seem have taken the sarcophagus. Or been in league with those who did.
Tsurras: did we look for tracks where we first saw the undead...
Eliza Meribow: OK, so you tracked the tunnel to a warehouse in town.
Tsurras leans back looks at Dirren...
Dirge: Yes, at the upper docks.
King Mob: no, but GM-character hindsight is 20-20
Dirren snores, far from the reporting party, asleep near the warehouse.
Eliza Meribow: So you need to know who owns the warehouse? Or you already burned it down and you're here to apologise?
Gerund: No, no. We restrained ourselves.
Dirge: Oh, come on, Eliza, you know me better.
Tsurras imagines that Dirren, hafling ranger extraordinaire, would never leave a fight without checking for tracks...
Eliza Meribow: .... do I really?.... okay....
Dirren rolls over.
Ardeth mutters in her sleep and pokes at Dirren to get him to stop snoring.
Dirge: Hey, YOU are the one that asked Zina to let me go for these little missions.
Eliza Meribow: Well, so you've tracked something to a warehouse... I can probably find out for you in the morning who owns it.
Dirge: I'd assume you wouldn't have asked if you thought I was a dangerous threat.
Tsurras: wait
Tsurras: do we want to wait till morning?
Tsurras: These undead could have moved the sarcophagus...sepulchur...thingy...somewhere else by then
Gerund: Yes. Some of us need rest. And I, for one, would like to know better what we're getting ourselves into.
Tsurras: ...of course, thats why we have the rest of the crew watching the thing
Tsurras nods
Tsurras: Good point
Dirge: We're not doing ourselves any favors by working ourselves into the grave.
Eliza Meribow: Yes, I notice you're a few people short
Dirge: Yes, I slit their throats.
Tsurras snickers...Dirren isn't even here!
Dirge raises an eyebrow.
Gerund: We left them keeping watch on the warehouse. It seemed prudent.
Eliza Meribow: Good to know they're working hard and not sleeping in the dirt.
Campaign saved.
Abigail (Ardeth): Hey, at least one of us is working hard at all times...
Eliza Meribow: OK, well, thanks for letting me know. I've got to get some shut-eye if I'll be talking to the Trader's Guild early in the morning - they don't welcome me poking into their affairs.
Tsurras: thank you for your help, Eliza
Dirge: We'll do the same. We're going to need it, I think.
Gerund: Yes, thanks.
Eliza Meribow motions you out and starts to stack the papers she was working on
Tsurras: May Avandra's blessings clear your skies and light your path...
Gerund exits. Sleeps.
King Mob: (POLL) fast forward a bit?
Benticore (Tsurras): are we fastforwarding an extended rest?
OK, the next day (everyone gets your ext. rest) you head towards the warehouse again.
Gerund -> Taking Extended Rest
TheWanderer (Dirren): I hate to be a pooper, but how much more gaming are we gonna do tonight?
Ardeth -> Taking Extended Rest
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm kinda out of wife patience here.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): I'm ok to keep going for another fight.
King Mob: There's about three+ hours of stuff left, but I don't think we can get to the end of the game tonight
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): But can wait until next week if that'll work better.
Abigail (Ardeth): I can probably do a bit longer, but I can't stay up past midnight or I'll turn into a very grumpy pumpkin.
Benticore (Tsurras): its hard to shed Wife aggro once you get it...
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): If there's that much, let's wait.
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Yeah - do a full session next week.
TheWanderer (Dirren): Thanks )
Abigail (Ardeth): Sounds good to me :)
Benticore (Tsurras): alrighty...so...do we do exp now?
Lodin: Im good either way
Abigail (Ardeth): Definitely :)
Eliza Meribow: OK, everyone get 100xp for the kruthik encounter and 70xp for random roleplaying stuff afterwards
Eliza Meribow: argh not again
GM: OK, everyone get 170 xp each. And whatever gold you got in the kruthik tunnels.
King Mob: (POLL) Tuesday
Dirren: I have to check. Hang on.
King Mob: (POLL) Wednesday
King Mob: (POLL) Thursday
Lodin: I prefer Wednesday
King Mob: ok, instead just type something
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): relatively indifferent.
Campaign saved.
Dirge: Wednesday or Thursday for me
Lodin: And I'm not trying to drive conflict
Benticore (Tsurras): okay my wife just vetoed Thursdays since Greys Anatomy comes on (rolls eyes, safe in the knowlege that she can't see me)
Benticore (Tsurras): Wednesday for me
GM: OK, wednesday next week.
GM: That will finish Game II.
Ardeth: Wednesday should work for me.
GM: Then we'll have an awesome gabfest for everybody in games I and II the week after
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): Wed is good for me too.
Tsurras: anybody know how game 1 is going?
GM: Then we'll start game III, and everybody gets to play in game III - I've got a cunning plan.
Benticore (Tsurras): I like the 7pm start time
GM: game 1 is over... you were there for the ending...
Dirge: That works for me.
Benticore (Tsurras): I was???
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): The dragon
Dirge: 7's never going to be bueno for me, considering work lets me out at 8 EST.
Dirren: I like 8 EST. 7 is a nightmare.
King Mob: (POLL) agree on 8EST??

GM: OK, I'll post xp to the wiki. I may need people to post gold for me tho - not really keeping track of that.
GM: And yes, please update journals if you have a chance - it will make it easier to remember the plot later
Abigail (Ardeth): We knew what we were doing?
King Mob: bah
4dSwissCheese (Gerund): 'night all. Thanks again for putting in all the work, King Mob.
King Mob: good night
