Tsurras shurgs and begins munching in earnest
'TheWanderer' connected
Estavir: were the woods pretty?
Nosferatu (Tallis): I vividly recall Tsurras exploding in a spray of ichor and scales...
Estavir: I like pretty woods
GM: OK, this is the start of Game III, Kalton's Gamble. In Game II, Kalton's Bane, Tsurras was left behind during the ending and will need to be caught up with everyone else later on.
Estavir: so . . . not so pretty
TheWanderer (Dirren): Ahoy
TheWanderer (Dirren): BRB
GM: So you guys are in the Blue Moon Alehouse, Tsurras, Tallis, and Estavir.
Tsurras doesnt remember being blown up but then again, there are a few things that Tsurras is fuzzy about
Estavir: seems more confident as he orders a beer
Estavir: lizardman! tell me of your recent escapades.
Estavir: would you like a beer? it's very good (hasn't touched it)
Tsurras: of course
Estavir: It's the best beer I've had, and I'm a connoisseur!
Tsurras grabs the offered beer, and Estavir's untouched beer as well
Estavir orders Tsurras a beer
Tsurras: My exploits
Campaign saved.
Tsurras: My exploits...
Estavir happily orders another beer
King Mob: The following people were there for the ending of Game II and will have to help us get started with actual plot stuff.
Estavir: I . . . am QUITE the drinker!
King Mob: Gerund, Dirren, Ardeth, Dirge
King Mob: When those folks are back and ready to go, we'll have a backflash to remind them how game II ended up
Tsurras: We went into a graveyard on a tip that an undead scourge had risen and was desecrating the resting places of Kalton
Tsurras looks around conspiratorially
Tsurras: Actually, there were more than a few of the undead, but we took care of them
Tsurras: err
Tsurras: most of them
Estavir: Kalton?
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm back!
Estavir: why were after Kalton?
Tsurras (snarling): but then the bastards fled into Kalton's Crypt
Tsurras: We werent after Kalton
Tsurras: but we're...uh...you know...in his employ
Tsurras: or the employ of his family's friends
Tsurras: or the friendly employ of enemies
Estavir: wel what, I mean, I was, you see I went forth with some, and we went to the manor of Kalton . . .
Estavir: why did you go?
Estavir: who hired you?
Tsurras: uh
Estavir: a squirrelly man with bad wine?
Tsurras: Eliza
Tsurras: the bossy pink-skin with the green eyes
Campaign saved.
King Mob: (Eliza Meribow is the head cleric of the Chapterhouse of Avandra; you've all met her)
Estavir: ah, no merchants, no merchants . . . (thinking)
Tsurras: We discovered under the keep, after some fearsome battles, that there were this huge, monstrous, enourmous bugs
Dirren: Hm, yes, she wasn't so bossy when we got to the merchants' guild.
Tsurras: tunnelling
Tsurras: um
Tsurras: Tunneling somewhere
Dirren: But I digress.
Tsurras: we found out that they tunnelled to a warehouse
Tsurras: a house of wares, if you will
Tsurras: even if you won't
Dirren: Yes, a warehouse back in town of all palces.
Dirren: We went to Aliza to find out who owned the warehouse.
Estavir wonders where Dirren came from
Tsurras: We were all set to take the warehouse by force and liberate...uhm...something...
Estavir: would you like a beer Dirren?
Tsurras: when I was contacted by that farmer friend of ours
Dirren: I was right here all along... I'm not that damned short am I?
Dirren: Yes, please.
Estavir gives Dirren his beer
Estavir: another beer, bartender!
Tsurras: Turns out, he had a second cow about to turn and he wanted to cook up some ribs and flank and what not but didnt want it to go to waste
Dirren sits up straight
Tsurras: So I go up there, to the farm
Estavir: I'm quite the heavy drinker, you know!
Tsurras: and WHAMMO
Tsurras: Farmer's daughter
Tsurras: The guy wants me to marry his daughter
Estavir: with a thing for lizards?
Tsurras shrugs
Dirren turns to Tsurras.
Tsurras: I guess she was alright for a human...a bit too soft for me, but still
Dirren: What?
Tsurras: the nerve
Tsurras: But Im Real hungry
Estavir: are you a lizard? what exactly are you?
Estavir pokes Tsurras
Tsurras: like bite a ...
Dirren: You'd have tor... Nevermind.
Tsurras looks blankly at Estavir and puts out a little puff of smoke out the side of his mouth
Tsurras: Im a Dragon Born
Dirren: Yes, well...
Tsurras: Descendant of that ancient and noble race
King Mob: (By the way Wanderer, I can recap the stuff from last game if you forget. Right now your character is the only one who was there)
Tsurras: why
Estavir gazes wide-eyed for a moment, then seems to forget what was so frightening
Dirren: The warehouse...
Estavir: ah, yes, ancient and noble and always hungry!
Tsurras: We've been ruling the world for aeons before you pink-skins knew how to walk upright and chew goomba root
Estavir: bartender, another beer!
Tsurras clears his throat
Estavir passes Tsurras his beer
Tsurras: Now
Tsurras: as I was saying
Dirren: We staked out the warehouse while we went to Aliza to find out who owned it.
Tsurras drinks his third beer
Estavir gazes wide-eyed at tsurras again
Dirren: Well, she couldn't help us, very poor organizaion on the part of the merchant's guild...
Dirren: So, well... we snuck in.
Estavir: Very good, isn't it, with malty hopkins and scotchy belches accented by toasty frothings!
Estavir: I'm a connoisseur of beer, you see!
Tsurras: toasty...what?
Dirren: Do either of you give a god damn?
Tsurras: Estavir, you haven't drank a bit
Tsurras: now
Estavir: Why, I'm savoring the aroma!
Estavir stands up and switches seats
Campaign saved.
Estavir: that one's for you anyway
Tsurras: lets Listen to Dirren as he explains to us why he's buying all this beer for us in celebration of victory
Estavir: another beer, bartender!
Tsurras winks at Estavir
Dirren wonders after the dwarf woman... she listened.
Ardeth Coldblade enters the tavern, looking around.
Dirren: So, yes...
Tsurras waves to Ardeth
Dirren: We snuck into the warehouse and found the missing crypt!
Ardeth Coldblade: Hello - good to see you all.
Estavir: helro
Dirren: Hello my dear.
Tsurras slides her a beer when she sits down
Dirren: have a seat.
Estavir: yur a preddy laaaaady
Dirren: Pardon his drool.
Ardeth Coldblade sits down and has a drink, ignoring Estavir
Estavir: surry I fink Ife hat doo much to dring
Dirren: We found the crypt! Ardeth was there. She helped me put out the fire...
Dirren: Did I mention the fire?
Tsurras: crypt?
Dirren: Yes, well there was some property damage to the warehouse.
Tsurras: in the warehouse?
Tsurras: and a fire?
Estavir: fire? (gazes nervously at Tsurras' nostrils)
Tsurras: Did that pyromaniacal robe-wearing back-liner start it?
Ardeth Coldblade: Gerund started it.
Dirren: Yes, the crypt was in a crate, surrounded by flames, and Dirge and Ardeth and myself and (someone else) pulled it out!
Tsurras: Gerund
Tsurras: I should have known
Dirren: Yes, him.
Tsurras: wait wait
Tsurras: hold on
Dirren: Hm?
Tsurras: I thought a crypt was a big...stone...thing
Tsurras: that you put dead bodies in
Dirren: Quite true.
Dirren: It contained one.
Tsurras: how can a Crypt be in a crate?
Ardeth Coldblade: The halfling means sepulcher
Estavir (singing): STOOONE THINGGGGG
Dirren: Hm, eys.
Tsurras: sepulchur
Estavir: splucher?
Dirren: Corpse box.
Tsurras: yeah
Estavir: pulcher
Tsurras: Coffin would have worked too
Estavir: smacks his head on the table
Tsurras: anyway
Tsurras: so you got the coffin back?
Estavir: (ow!)
Ardeth Coldblade: a stone coffin, basically. We found the lid in the Kalton Crypt, but not the coffin to go with it.
Dirren: The coffin was in a crate in a warehouse which we set ablaze.
Tsurras: Right
Tsurras: I remember the coffin lid
Dirren: We put out the blaze, then moved the coffin out of harm's way.
Tsurras: so...
Tsurras: what was in the coffin?
Dirren: When we had a look inside of it we found the corpse, quite desicated, and missing something!
Tsurras: uh
Tsurras: should I guess?
Tsurras thinks for a moment
Dirren: Ardeth actually was the one who realized something was missing...
Tsurras: was it missing a hand? or a finger?
Estavir: a phthinger?
Dirren: Ardeth...
Estavir is rolling his head from side to side
Campaign saved.
Tsurras: [9] [1d20 = 9]
Ardeth Coldblade: His back was arched and his hands were out
Ardeth Coldblade: like this
Ardeth Coldblade she tries to demonstrate someone who has had an object pulled out of his hands
Tallis takes notice when he hears the naem Kalton.
Tsurras: hmmm
Tsurras: as if someone had taken something from him as he died?
Estavir: sits up
Dirren: I don't think we're quite sure what it is he was missing, but it cuold be the Bane we're looknig for.
Tsurras: Like taht crystal that Eliza is all whillickers about?
Estavir: bane?
Tsurras: heheh
Estavir: crystal?
Dirren: Exactly.
Tsurras: "These aren't the banes you're looking for..."
King Mob: argh Benticore, that was a stretch
Tsurras doesn't exactly understand why thats funny
Tallis: Tsurras, did you find out something about the crystal?
Dirren: Well, we went back to Aliza and she FINALLY got out of the guild who it was that owned the warehouse.
Benticore (Tsurras): I know I know
Tsurras: oh
Dirren: It was...
TheWanderer (Dirren): help
Tsurras: uh, was that before or After we burned the place to the ground
Haiku (Estavir): dies from the suspense
Tsurras: by we I mean YALL
Ardeth Coldblade: A litigator and slum lord named Terrence Trimble
Dirren: It did not quite reach the ground, but it is much more ventilated now.
Tallis grumbles about horribly story telling and overly long dramatic pauses.
Dirren: Yes, that bastard.
Tsurras: Okay
'Rubb Ed (Dave)' connected
Tsurras: so our next move?
Ardeth Coldblade: He purchased it - and may have arranged for the records of its purchase having vanished.
Tsurras: Do we go smoke out this Trimble character?
Tsurras: put him to the question, so to speak?
Dirren: So, we went and knocked on Terrence's door and, lo and behold, he turned into a vaporous, nefarious... something and tried to kick our collective asses!
Haiku (Estavir): trouble with trimbles?
Ardeth Coldblade: Well, while you were out eating your meat.
Benticore (Tsurras): AFK for 2 mins
Benticore (Tsurras): Nice, Haiku
Dirge: He turned into a rat is what he turned into.
Nosferatu (Tallis): those trimbles they get into everything
Ardeth Coldblade: He was able to summon shadows or something? And he had a dog-gargoyle.
Dirren: Dogoyle? Barkoyle? It was metal.
Ardeth Coldblade wonders where Dirge came from
Nosferatu (Tallis): wow eating his own meat, he must be pretty flexible.
Dirge: That stupid metal thing needed to die something fierce.
Dirren: It made a clanging sound when Dirge kiled it.
Haiku (Estavir): that's why he didn't need the farmer's daughter
Dirge: I came from the depths of hell!
Dirge: Or, you know, the door.
Campaign saved.
Estavir: was frightened for a moment
Dirren: Hmm... Yes. And Terrece turned into a pile of dust an shaby clothes.
Ardeth Coldblade pulls up another table and puts them together
Estavir: would you like a beer, Dirge?
Ardeth Coldblade: Actually as I recall he turned into a half-rat creature after he was dead.
Dirren: Really?
Dirge: Quite, thank you.
Ardeth Coldblade: His clothes were pretty shabby though, you've got that right.
Dirren: I don't recall that.
Estavir gives Dirge his beer
Estavir: bartender, another beer!
Dirren takes a pull of his pint.
Dirge looks down at the beer.
Estavir: (to Dirge) I'm quite the drinker
[w] Dirge -> Dirren: Has he been backdrafting into this thing?
Dirren: We know!!!
Dirren: There were some papers we found, and some magical toys...
Tallis comes near Tsurras and says something quitely to him.
Dirren: I've got them here somewhere...
Ardeth Coldblade: Hm, I seem to remember some of that - it would probably be faster if I just used the magical power of recap.
Dirren reaches into his shirt pockets, pants pockets.
Most of the trash, notes, and various scraps of parchment you find in Terrence Trimble's offices are written in a difficult cipher. It is plain the authorities will need months to uncover the trail of his transactions. However, you find two items of interest in the first, cursory search: two notes plainlly marked from Guy Damrosch.
[w] Tallis -> Tsurras: do these folks know something about the Crystal from Kalton Manor?
Haiku (Estavir): tsurras continues his strange state you feel is referred to as, AFK
Estavir: DAMNROSCH
Ardeth Coldblade looks curiously at the young boy in leather armor watching and listening from the corner of the tavern
Estavir: the merchant?
Dirren: Weren't you all hired by him prior to my jioning you?
Dirge: Oh... just you wait.
King Mob: Guy Damrosch hired you guys at the beginning of game 1 to check out kalton manor and see if you could get something from the basement
Estavir: yes, he babbled and meandered and wanted us to go through his manor then ran off!
Campaign saved.
King Mob: (POLL) ready for the 2nd letter? check when you are
Dirren: From my reading of this Trimble had those reptilian things on retainer, and was asked to get them to dig the tunnel we found.
Dirren: Does anyone recognize a "dark crystal"?
King Mob: the reptilian things are called Kruthik
King Mob: you can keep calling them that tho if its in character :)
TheWanderer (Dirren): 'tis
Estavir: Damrosch's true identity?
Dirren: Don't know yet.
Estavir: ah . . .
Dirren: But have you heard of a "dark crystal'?
TheWanderer (Dirren): arcana check needed here?
Dirge: A dark crystal?
Haiku (Estavir): yes, that movie creeped me out when I was a kid
Nosferatu (Tallis): I so wanted to respond to the dark crystal thing with "I believe it was guarded by soem creatures called Moe-Pets"
King Mob: I really regret the whole thing but what can I do... it's a dark colored crystal...
TheWanderer (Dirren): k
Tsurras: So Trimble has been slain
Haiku (Estavir): yes, a tomb with a k
Haiku (Estavir): :P
Dirren: Quite.
GM: By the way, you can try an arcana check about crystals in general if you like
TheWanderer (Dirren): anyone?
Estavir is still "drunk"
Tsurras: but we have no idea if he was able to deliver the crystal to Damrosch or not, correct?
Tsurras: oh
Tsurras rereads the 2nd note
Tsurras: nevermind
Dirren: It would seem he has then.
Dirren: Is this from Guy?
Estavir: is the handwriting the same on both letters? I can't see!
Ardeth Coldblade: Both letters were written in the same handwriting.
Tsurras: I think it is
Tsurras: So
Ardeth Coldblade: The second seemed to be in a hurry.
Tallis slaps Estavir in the back of the head.
Tsurras: Some lizards have the crystal now
Tallis: open your eyes you drunken sot!
Campaign saved.
Tsurras: maybe if we head to Trimble's manor, we can catch Guy before he's taken out by Telric's people...
King Mob: If you guys remember from Kalton's Manor, you got a payroll from 'Telric's Irregulars'
Tsurras: if we can find him first, we might be able to find out where these lizardmen are and deal with the damnable crystal once and for all
Haiku (Estavir): ah, right, the band whose barracks we raided?
Estavir: where can we find him?
Estavir absentmindedly takes a sip of his beer
Tsurras: Well, Im sure Eliza can point us to Trimble's manor, right?
Estavir 's throat catches and he begins to turn green
King Mob: yeah, the mercenaries camped out in Kalton's Manor. You killed some nobodies and a tough warlord-type tiefling
Tsurras: Unless you chaps have a better idea, preferably one that involves less talking and more drinking
Dirren: Well, hang on a moment. If this was in Trimble's posession, then it's Trimbles family being referenced, right?
Estavir (quietly): hear hear . . .
Nosferatu (Tallis): would I know where Trimbles manor is?
Tsurras: right
Ardeth Coldblade: Sorry, what's Trimble's manor? I don't see anything in the letters about that... I think he lived in his office.
Tsurras: thats where Guy says he fled to
Dirren: Well who's family's home is being talked about?
Tsurras points to the 2nd letter
Ardeth Coldblade: Of course, if he was some kind of rat... thing... who knows where he could have come from? At least I don't know
Estavir: does anyone know of this "telric?"
Dirge: In the first one, I thought he was talking about Kalton's... I wonder if the second one's the same.
Dirren: Wait, are you saying this rat thing merely took the shape of a dirty landlord?
King Mob: (POLL) have you read the second letter?
Benticore (Tsurras): wonders if he's getting ready to chase a red herring
Dirge: Well, there's nothing saying he couldn't be both, Dirren, but...
Tsurras: Hey
Tsurras: I have an idea
Tsurras: we can dress up like Telrics guys and go GET Guy ourselves!
Campaign saved.
Tsurras looks at the floor in shame
Estavir: ok!
Tsurras: SHAME
GM: Do you guys want me to remind you of the whole payroll thing I'm talking about? Would you like me to go on to the other stuff that happened in game II?
Benticore (Tsurras): yes please
Benticore (Tsurras): I missed that one I believe
GM: payroll stuff:
You find writing materials and tightly bound sheets of parchment in the secretary. Reading the parchment, this is a payroll for the group. The record goes back years, but most of the older entries are torn, stained, and hard to read.
The newer entries seem to indicate a 50 / 50 split of money between "Telric's Irregulars" and "Our Contact." Each payment states a date of monies received - although the source of the money isn't referred to - and monies sent to this "Contact," never more than a month apart.
The last date for "monies sent" is two weeks ago.
Tsurras: hmm
Tsurras: so obviously...
Tsurras: uh
Tsurras: Trimble is the "Contact"
Tsurras: ...right?
GM: would anyone like to dig the payroll out and look at it again?
Dirge: It's possible.
Estavir: maybe . . .
Estavir: I've got it here . . .
Estavir: take a look
GM: ok so let me know any questions you might have about it?
Tallis: sounds like as good a premise as any.
GM: like... how many mercenaries?
Dirren: How many people are referenced in this payroll?
Nosferatu (Tallis): 4 + leader IIRC
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Well, are there any entries that stick out like a sore thumb?
Tsurras wonders how many mercenaries are on the list and if he recognizes any of the names
Nosferatu (Tallis): I also seem to recall that they were recognsed from the Tavern\
Tsurras counts the number of mercenaries on the list...then wonders aloud how many his party has 'dealt with'
Tsurras: oh
Dirren: I'm getting a small meal together while you sort out the encounter I wasn't there for.
TheWanderer (Dirren): sorry, ooc
Benticore (Tsurras): IIRC = If I Recall Correctly?
Nosferatu (Tallis): yes
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): I'm following Dirren's lead...brb.
Tsurras: so
Tsurras: did you all dispatch Telric himself?
Campaign saved.
GM: In the most recent entries, you have a Vrima the Noxious, Ellis Leafborn, Terra Leafborn, and Telric Scarborn is at the top of the list.
Tsurras: I caught up with you right before we fought (and I slayed) that Giant Black Dragon
Tsurras: hmmm
Tallis: Telric were those poor souls that had that tragic snapping turtle fishing accident that you passed on the way in.
Tsurras: that doesnt give us many leads, unless you thing one of telric's members could be deeper involved in the plot...
Tsurras: yeah
GM: Vrima seems to have been on the list the longest. The Leafborns were on the list for the past year.
Tsurras pats his newish Glaive
King Mob: (POLL) ready to go on to other stuff that happened at the end of game II?
Nosferatu (Tallis): did the guys that the party met at the tavern give their names to match up to the list with?
King Mob: when?
Tsurras: wait
Tsurras: what guys at what tavern/
Nosferatu (Tallis): yeah there were some brothers or something that shared I room I remember.
King Mob: The four bumpkins were the ones that had been messing with Torgan in the tavern a few days earlier
Dirge: Yeah, the locals that I had to back down.
King Mob: But I'm not sure if anyone who met them with Torgan saw them later at Kalton's Manor
Campaign saved.
King Mob: Anyway Tallis could very well have recognized them, he lurks around the Blue Moon pretty often
Tsurras: hmm
Tsurras: so the four bumpkins were on Telric's payroll, but you've killed them...and Telric
Tsurras: that still leaves us with only one lead
Nosferatu (Tallis): BTW since you guys can't see my sheet, Tallis is really tall, for a halfling.
Ardeth Coldblade: In any case, as you remember, we went from Trimble's office to Guy Damrosch's offices in the Upper Quay.
Ardeth Coldblade: Hm, I wonder if I remember exactly what happened there?
Dirren: I'm not even sure what that lead is.
With this evidence in your hand, there's no difficulty in persuading the authorities to a search of the Damrosch offices as well. Guy is gone, and so are whatever records he kept here. He seems to have left in a hurry, however - the ashes of the fireplace are still warm, and you can smell burning paper.
Ardeth Coldblade: And then we dug some scraps out of the fireplace.
Tsurras: The lead of Tracking Guy down at Trimble's family house and bringing the foolish pink-skin to justice
Ardeth Coldblade goes white
Dirren: Okay then. I get that.
Ardeth Coldblade: I recognize the name on that scrap of paper - Zelodin
Tsurras: Zelodin?
Tsurras: who is that?
Ardeth Coldblade: For some reason I think I should be more angry than I am right now, but when my real player gets back I will be - I owe that liche destruction
Estavir: liche?
Estavir takes a deliberate gulp of his beer
Ardeth Coldblade: In return for having destroyed my clan.
Tallis: "real player"?
Tsurras: Lich?
Tsurras: Dwarven Clan Destroying Lich?
King Mob: I couldn't help it, sorry
Tsurras smacks his lips
Dirren: Dear gods.
Tsurras: Sounds like a RIGHTEOUS BEATDOWN IS IN ORDER!
Ardeth Coldblade: I don't wish to talk about it now.
TheWanderer (Dirren): You will be much more angry
Dirge: Okay, wait... lich?
Tsurras: Oh no
Tsurras: we Have to talk about it
Tsurras: where is this foul abomination?
Tsurras: Our path is clear!
Tallis: the lich or your "real player"? is it some sort of womanly thing?
Dirren: Simmer, sir. The lady is affected.
Tsurras: We must send this hideous creature back to the nether planes for all eternity
Dirge mutters "or touched..."
Ardeth Coldblade: He got what he wanted from our clanhold - he's no longer there. In any case, we're not yet strong enough to fight him
Tsurras struggles to keep his hands off his blade
Dirren: What abou this Ulghar fella?
Tsurras (sighing): you're probably right.
Dirren: recognize him?
Estavir: he's not our target anyway, guy was merely using him for services, right?
Campaign saved.
Nosferatu (Tallis): Oh man this whole line of conversation could be misread in quite amusing ways.
Tsurras: true
Dirren: This is a receipt... perhaps he is a merchant.
Tsurras: but maybe Ulghar could lead us to...um
Dirren: Guy.
Tsurras: well
Tsurras: right
Dirren: YEs.
Dirge: Somewhere at least.
Dirge: It's a lead.
Tsurras: At least Ulghar is here
Estavir: you'd trust a lich to give you information?
Dirge: Question being, who the hell would know where he is.
Tsurras: we can find him
TheWanderer (Dirren): Do I recognize the name?
Tsurras: figure out what exactly he did for Guy
King Mob: it occurs to me this is a party-sized group, despite the fact that I invited 10 people tonight
Estavir: by . . . asking him nicely?
Tsurras gestures towards Dirge
Tallis: It sounds like a logical place to start, and by the looks of it, it shoudl only take some gold to get him to tell us what we wish to know.
Haiku (Estavir): they suck
Tsurras: You're Town Guard, Dirgey! Lean on him
King Mob: I should probably throw something together, hm... I'll think about it
Dirren: Well, we do know that what he did is only half as valuable as what he dd it with (winks)
Dirge looks at Tsurras with a raised eyebrow.
Estavir: i really think we should do something less . . . dangerous
Dirge: Merchant Army doesn't equal town guard.
Tsurras: well
Tsurras: yeah
Tsurras: but you could probably play the part
Dirge: But I get your point... maybe I can use my contacts.
Tsurras: We get a Guard's getup
Tsurras: dress you up
Dirge: Hm.
Tsurras: You pull the Good Cop Bad Cop routine
Tsurras: except
Tsurras: uh
Tsurras: we're both Bad Cops
Dirge: The guards would know, but... this guy might not.
Estavir seems annoyed no one is paying attention to him
Tallis: wouldn't that be bad guard?
Dirge: How's about Stabby Constable, Smashy Constable?
Dirren: This is the second time you've wanted to put on someone else's clothes this evening, Tsurras.
Estavir: begins drinking his beer in earnest, for which he has apparently developed a liking
Nosferatu (Tallis): this is starting to sound like a bad porno scene from some 70s movie.
Ardeth Coldblade: Dirren recognizes the name as a wizard who traffics in magical objects - he usually operates through Naerumar's Imports
'Benticore' disconnected
Ardeth Coldblade: argh
TheWanderer (Dirren): victory
King Mob: that was supposed to be OOC
Dirren: I know this name!
Dirren: This Ulghar!
Dirren: He's sold at least a few implements to my father a while back, by way of barter for some shoes.
Dirren: He works through consignment at Naerumar's
Campaign saved.
Nosferatu (Tallis): OOCT FTW!
Nosferatu (Tallis): hwo I wish I was recording that vent chat....
Estavir: where's naerumar's?
Dirren: So, let's go see him. Perhap the guard bit would be a good idea. It might let us feel him out a bit before he... turns into a rat creature and attempts to kill us.
King Mob: ok, I'm ready for whatever
'Benticore' connected
Dirren: What can you tell me about your affiliation with the guards?
Dirge -> Initiative [23] [1d20+3 = 23]
Tallis: Perhaps we should split up into two groups, that way if the ask nicely thing doesn't work we can always fall back on the bad guard routine.
GM: Neuromar's is near Knight's Gate on the east end of the town
Dirge: Whose affiliation, mine?
Tsurras: And we're back
TheWanderer (Dirren): and we're where now?
Dirren: Yes, yours?
Dirge: I don't really have one, but I know a couple of the guys.
Dirren: Alright. We need their pants.
Dirren: And shirts.
Tallis: um maybe I don't want to know...
Dirren: They can keep their underthings. Unless, Tsurras...?
Tsurras shrugs
Tallis guffaws.
Dirren: Alright then.
GM: you could get there relatively quickly
Tsurras: I dont think I can fit em
Dirren: Nor I.
Dirge: I'm going to drink a lot and forget we're talking about other people's underthings.
Dirren: Do you want to lead with the guard bit?
Tsurras: One day I might tell you about Dragonborn sex...but today is not that day
Tsurras: who me?
Dirren: To be honest, we didn't get very far with the last rat-creature before he attached us.
Ardeth Coldblade: Well, I think I'll retire for the evening. I've had a bit too much, and I'm a little worked up about this.. Zelodin .. business.
Dirren: Good night Ardeth.
Tsurras: I dont know if I'd make a believable guard but I'm willing to try
Estavir watches Ardeth go sadly
Dirge: You do that, Ardeth. Get some sleep, pray to... whomever it is you pray to, and meet up with us when you're feeling better.
Campaign saved.
Estavir: I !
Estavir leaps up
Estavir am a wonderful guard!
Dirge rolls his eyes.
Estavir looks around
Estavir sits down again
Tsurras: Alright
Dirge: Okay, good to know.
Tallis contemplates tying Estavir to the chair.
Benticore (Tsurras): did we get the guards clothes?
Dirren: Perhaps a drunk wanders into the store, then the guard comes in to aprehend him?
Ardeth Coldblade leaves
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Guess I'll start putting in some words and seeing if we can borrow some spare uniforms or whatever.
Tallis -> Skill [Stealth] [13] [1d20+9 = 13]
Dirren: Then, we can try to snoop around a bit perhaps?
Dirren: Okay, do we lead with the guard bit or not?
Tsurras: I say yes
Dirge: It's a good an idea as any.
Tsurras: IF some basic questions dont work
Dirren: Okay.
Tsurras: Who here has the gift of gab...besides yours truly?
Dirge: Hey, there we go.
Tallis: Like I said we may want to split up if we're going to try to do the guard thing... just in case someone recogises the dragonborn that was there yesterday is te same guy posing as a guard today.
GM: Ulghar takes orders out of Neuromars but doesn't necessarily live there
Tsurras: right
Tsurras: good idea Tallis
Dirren: Wait, what I'm asking is does the guard go in or does the adventurer-looking-for-some guy go in first?
Dirge: Estavir, Dirren, Tallis... I've got an idea.
Tsurras: So lets have the Adventurer/nice questions go first
Dirge: Well... seems like Tallis is on the same track.
Tsurras: then me and Dirge can get rough if we need to
Tallis: well seeing as we can go as adventurers now, and it will take a day or two to get the uniforms, probably the adventurers first.
Tsurras: right so
Tsurras: Tallis
Tsurras: Estavir
Tsurras: Dirren
Tsurras: You're up first
Dirren: Okay.
Dirren: i am?
Tsurras: we'll wait here at the bar for the good news
Tsurras orders another beer
Dirren: Um...
Dirge: I'll go scrounge up some guard uniforms that'll fit the two of us.
Tsurras: okay
Estavir grumbles
Tsurras: Dirren you can stay and drink with me
Tsurras: either way
Tallis: hmm, that seemed to work out well for tsurras, getting left at the bar and all...
Dirren clears his throat.
Tsurras nods with a sly smile
Dirren: I am a colassal, what would you say Tsurras?, bad ass?
Dirren: But, I'd certainly like a hand.
Campaign saved.
Dirren: Oh, Estavir and Tallis and I will go. I get it.
Dirren: Let's go!
Dirge: Exactly.
Estavir gets up shakily
Dirren finishes his pint.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): I go off and start using my resources.
Tallis: i'm guessing this is going to take some money to get him to talk....
Estavir: I'm really an excellent drinker
Tsurras: it might
Tsurras: if it costs a ton, we'll reimburse you from the party fund
Estavir: I have . . . 40 gold?
Dirren: I ahve 140
Tallis: how much should we try to keep it under?
Tallis: Can we give him Estavir?
Estavir is oblivious
TheWanderer (Dirren): How much for your children? How much for the little gril?
Tallis: Ok forget I asked.... let's go guys
Benticore (Tsurras): are you guys gonna roll for this
Benticore (Tsurras): or roleplay?
Benticore (Tsurras): Kingmob?
TheWanderer (Dirren): checks his pockets for Ecstacy
TheWanderer (Dirren): I imagine we'll roll play
TheWanderer (Dirren): wink
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'm done I promise.
Estavir: lets go!
Tsurras: go!
Dirren leaps up.
Estavir: we will
Tsurras waves his friends emphatically out the door
Estavir: we just want to say goodbye!
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): Go Team Venture!
Estavir: goodbye!
Tsurras sits back down
Tallis and company head out the door.
Benticore (Tsurras): brb...beans again
Estavir: goodbye!
Estavir thinks it's a very pretty door
Campaign saved.
GM: ok ok, you leave the tavern and make your way to Neurumar's Imports
Estavir is still at the door to the tavern, admiring it
Estavir catches up
Dirren: So...
Dirren: This is an importer. Have you spoken with one before?
GM: You find Orest Neuromar at the desk, a tiefling with a calm manner and impeccable clothes
Estavir or is he an importer/exporter?
TheWanderer (Dirren): He doesn't buy anything that's sold or bought, or sell anything bought/sold
TheWanderer (Dirren): He's just a kickboxer
Estavir strides to a corner and takes a protective stance
Haiku (Estavir): is his name art vandelet?
Nosferatu (Tallis): does he have anything for sale?
TheWanderer (Dirren): YEs
King Mob: The room is appointed in wood and leather trim. Very fancy. Under a glass case in the front you can see some gems.
Dirren: Looks around the room.
Tallis looks at the gems
TheWanderer (Dirren): sees
Orest Neuromar: How may I help you gentlemen? You have the look of adventurers.
Dirren fingers the woodwork
Benticore (Tsurras): back
Benticore (Tsurras): Psych!
Tallis: Yes, we are looking for Ulghar the Grey, we hear he frequents this establishment.
Dirren: Hm, yes. Grey.
Orest Neuromar: Ulghar... I don't know if I have any of his work at present.
Dirren: Can you check for us?
Orest Neuromar: Usually he crafts in crystal and gold.
Orest Neuromar: Certainly. I'll have someone check the back. Jester!
Tallis: yes, we have something that requires his specialized knowledge.
Orest Neuromar shouts towards the back of the store
Estavir 's eyes snap to attention at the word "Jester," then relax
Benticore (Tsurras): back and I mean it this time
GM: A halfling dressed in leathers appears from the back, nods, listens to Orest, then departs
TheWanderer (Dirren): raises his eyebrows to Estavir questioningly.
Tallis takes a closer look at the gems on display.
[w] Tallis: what would an old fashioned appraisal check be nowadays?
Campaign saved.
Orest Neuromar: He'll be back in just a moment. May I ask what sort of object you are intereste in? Perhaps I can have it made by another means?
Dirren looks intently at the halfling's clothing, trying to see who made it.
Tallis -> Skill [Perception] [8] [1d20+2 = 8]
Dirren: We have heard his is the most approrriate skill set for the task at hand.
GM: You think the gems range from 100gp to 1000gp gems. Probably not his best.
Dirren: Is your... Jester is it? Is he looking in the back store room?
Orest Neuromar: Very well then. Well, I may have to simply send you on to his tower, in that case. It's not far out of Fallcrest.
Nosferatu (Tallis): anything "odd" about the gems (LOL just a long shot, I doubt the crystal we're looking fior is in the case)
Dirren: Alright. Where is it exactly?
GM: The halfling returns and speaks softly to Orest for a moment
Orest Neuromar: I have a crystal wand of his - let me see... (pages through a notebook at the counter)
Dirren nods to Jester in a friendly way.
Orest Neuromar: Eldritch Rain. That's the spell.
Orest Neuromar: This one I could let you have for 22,000 gold.
Tallis -> Skill [Arcana] [13] [1d20 = 13]
Tsurras -> Power [Badassedness] -> When Big T-Nasty steps up in the place, all the mabba jabba fools get scared.
King Mob: Eldritch Rain is a warlock spell? the wands go +2, +3, and so on? what else do you want to know
Nosferatu (Tallis): what do the spell do?
Campaign saved.
Tallis: that's not quite what we were looking for...
GM: It's a level 3 encounter spell, hurts 1 or 2 people. Not too great.
Dirren: It is quite elegant though. Exactly the kind of craftsmanship we're looking for.
Orest Neuromar: Ah yes.
Orest Neuromar: So... you're interested in his work in crystal, but this isn't the piece for you.
Dirren: Correct. It seems a visit is in order. Where is his tower?
Orest Neuromar eyes the party, considering if they can afford a +3 wand
Dirren is glad he washed the pickle residue from his hair last night
Estavir heads for the door
Nosferatu (Tallis): bluff to try to appear more prosperous than we are
Tallis -> Skill [Bluff] [21] [1d20+7 = 21]
Orest Neuromar: Very well then. Proceed through the Knight's Gate for an hour or so, then watch for a trail into the hills to your south. Follow the trail a few moments and you should see a grey tower.
Dirren: Thank you.
Orest Neuromar: [18] [1d20+6 = 18]
Orest Neuromar: [18] [18]
Dirren: Oh, one more thing...
Orest Neuromar considers whether possibly Tallis might have the money for a +3 wand.
Dirren: Does he enjoy pie or cake?
Estavir thinks this is really a very pretty door as well
Campaign saved.
Estavir is a connoisseur of doors
Orest Neuromar: Hm... our relationship is strictly business. Can't recall as I've eaten with him before.
Dirren: Thanks! Good day.
Dirren: I'll just bring pie then. I like pie.
Dirren: leaves.
Orest Neuromar: Good day. Come again.
Tsurras suddenly wants pie
Tallis wonders if an6y of these wands have a hold person spell to use on Estavir
Dirren: Sorry we couldn't afford that wand Estavir.
Dirren: Er, Tallis.
Tallis: It's not a big deal, just might ahve gained us some leverage when talking to the wizard.
Tallis: or, hmm he might be a warlock? that was a warlock spell on that last wand...
Dirren: Alright. Let's head back to the inn. I need a pie.
Tallis: Are we not going to go to the tower today?
Dirren: We need to get everyone else!
Estavir is halfway to the blue moon
Tallis: The plan hasn't changed dramatically, we just are... wait!
Dirren waits
Tallis: Do you think Estavir will tell Dirge and Tsurras where his tower is?
Tallis: What am I say, Estavir can't even remember where he is.
Dirge comes back to the inn with an appropriately-altered uniform for himself and a large, altered uniform for Tsurras.
[w] Estavir: can I be back at the blue moon now?
Dirge: We owe a couple of the bigger guards some beer and a few games of Three Dragon.
Dirren: let's better catch up with him.
Dirren hustles along after Estavir.
Tallis: alright... knowing him, he'd never finish telling them about the tower.
Estavir arrives at the blue moon, sits down, and begins the first few stages of alcoholism
Dirren: and Extavir and Tallis arive.
Campaign saved.
Dirge sits himself down at the table just as the others arrive.
[w] -> Estavir: yes, sorry
Dirge: So, did you get any information?
Dirren tells everyone what happened
Tsurras: Hmm
Tsurras: We might not need these uniforms after all, but they couldn't hurt
Dirren: They are quite dapper.
Tsurras: You seem pretty skillful, Dirren...wanna try the friendly act with Ughlar?
Dirren: orders a blueberry pie to go.
Tsurras: or Ulghar?
Tallis: Just that Ulghar specializes in crystals and gold, and they had a wand he made enchanted with Eldritch Rain...
Tsurras: right
Tsurras: if we can avoid a fight with a strong wizard in his own tower, so much the better
Estavir: spendy, too, for such a spell
Dirge: Oh, so he enchants wands. Got it. Explains the components and service.
Estavir: must be a great craftsman
Dirren: He is, the wand was lovely.
Dirren: Not 22k lovely, but quite nice.
Dirge: Well, let's not give him a reason to fight then.
Tallis: I wonder if we might not want to go as a group, a caster in his tower seems like something you don't want to take any chances with.
Dirge sputters.
Dirge: 22K gold?
Dirren: I say, show up, offer him a pie, and then see if he'll make something for us.
Dirren: Wizards like Pie.
Tallis: I'm not sure of the quality of the wand as we never saw it...
Estavir begins eyeing the pie
Dirren: Then, if that doesn't work, you go and arrest him.
Dirren smiles
Dirge: If, by arrest, you mean beat up and smash his face in.
[w] Estavir: can I stealth to stick my finger in the pie and taste it?
Tsurras: wait
Tsurras: lets think about this
Dirren: Sometimes the law takes the law into its own law.
Tsurras: if all he did was make Guy a wand
Dirge: Don't really think we need guard uniforms for that.
Tsurras: how much more information can he give us, aside from what kind of wand it was he made?
Dirge: ...
[w] -> Estavir: why are you whispering me - does anybody have a pie right now?
Dirge: say that again?
[w] Estavir -> Dirren: ordered one, and because I don't want him to know :)
Dirren: Law.
GM: Dirren's pie arrives
[w] Estavir: because dirren ordered one, and I don't want him to know
Tsurras: Im starting to think that he might not be able to give us as much info as we hoped
Dirren: Excellent. Thanks!
Tsurras: still
[w] -> Estavir: you just whispered dirren by accident, ahaha
Tallis: He may not have made a wand, the note only said the charge was for services and the materials, could be any spell at all.
Tsurras: lets be off to see the wizard
[w] Estavir: yeah :(
[w] -> Estavir: yeah, roll stealth
Estavir -> Skill [Stealth] [12] [1d20+9 = 12]
Campaign saved.
Dirge: Well, it's a starting point, though.
Dirren stands, pie in hand.
GM: Dirren, you're unhappy to see Estavir attempt to surreptitiously sample your pie
Dirge: Mayhaps we could go intimidate him, but we might not find anything else out, and we'd lose our shot at having an ally.
Tsurras: right
Dirren slaps at Estavir's hand.
Dirren: Bad alki.
Estavir looks hurt
Tsurras: so we ask, nice and friendly-like first
Tsurras: if Dirren feels like he's not up to snuff, we lean on him
[w] Tallis: can I try to tie estavir to his chair (shoestring to the chair legs style)?
Dirren: With pie, mind you.
Tsurras: If we feel like he's not holding the mustard, we walk
Dirren: Yes. Keeping said pie.
Tsurras dons the uniform and walks outt he door
Tsurras: which was is this tower?
Dirge: Same plan as last time? The three... less intimidating members go first, and we come afterwards?
[w] -> Tallis: stealth check
Tallis -> Skill [Stealth] [23] [1d20+9 = 23]
Tsurras nods at Dirge
[w] -> Tallis: yes, you succeed. No one notices.
Dirge shrugs and puts on his uniform as well.
Dirren: I think that would be an excellen decision.
Tallis: I'd say we'd want you nearby, just in case...
Dirren look carefully at his pie to see if anything is missing.
Dirge: Estavir, leave. The. Pie. Alone.
[w] -> Dirren: roll perception
Dirren -> Skill [Perception] [22] [1d20+8 = 22]
[w] -> Dirren: your pie seems untouched
Estavir is sitting in the corner, sulking
Dirren harumphs
Dirge: I don't know the purpose behind it, but I'm going to assume there's a purpose behind it.
Tallis: Shall we go tonight, or wait till morning?
Tsurras: In case he likes pie
Dirge: That has nothing to do with any of your personalities eating it.
Dirren: Exactly.
Tsurras: I say we go now
Tsurras: unless its late
Dirren: I thought we left?
Tsurras: nobody likes late night visitors
Dirge looks up at the sky.
Benticore (Tsurras): did we leave?
GM: It's late afternoon
Benticore (Tsurras): can we time/warp to the tower?
Dirren: It's an hour away.
Benticore (Tsurras): err near the tower?
Tallis: Ok guys lets head out.
King Mob: Well, you can time warp, sure. but leave the inn first.
Dirge: Let's go... early evening visit won't be too weird.
Estavir heads out, trailing Dirren
[w] Tallis: LOL
Dirren rolls out.
Dirge stands up and heads out the door.
GM: Estavir is brought up short by his shoelace
Dirge does a jump to the left.
GM: roll a saving throw please
GM: -2 due to your inebriated condition
Estavir: [15] [1d20 = 15]
Campaign saved.
Dirge: Oh, good grief.
GM: You catch yourself just in time. who could have knotted your shoelaces together like this?
Estavir: Thorry guyth, I thinkth I'm thrunk
Dirge picks up Estavir and slings him over one of Tsurras's shoulders.
Dirge: STAY.
GM: (you have to untie him first, but eventually you get him untangled and hung on Tsurras to dry
Dirren moves along the trail.
Dirge: Let's head out, guys.
GM: OK, about an hour later you reach a grey, unassuming tower in the Moon Hills south of the Trade Road.
TheWanderer (Dirren): where's the door?
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): How big is the tower?
Tsurras: dirge
Tsurras: lets hang back a bit
Tsurras hangs back
GM: The large, wooden door is closed. The tower is two stories.
Dirge: Quite.
Nosferatu (Tallis): it's good to be the GM...
Estavir: begins to admire the door
Dirge steps back and lets the others go towards the tower.
Dirren: Well, let's go knock.
Tallis knocks three times.
Dirren puts the pie behnid his back
Estavir goes to stand behind dirren
GM: An eladrin dressed in grey robes opens the door.
Ulghar: I am Ulghar.
Dirren: You certainly are.
Tsurras (whispering): You dont think Dirren would Throw that pie, do you?
Dirren: Nice to make your acquaintance.
Tallis glares at Dirren...
GM: He carries a staff and seems old, for an eladrin. He motions you in and walks into the main hall of the tower.
Dirren: I am Dirren. This is Tallis and Estavir.
Estavir perks up at his name
Ulghar: Yes, come in. Have a seat.
Tallis enters the tower.
Campaign saved.
Estavir: that's a lovely door!
Dirren enters.
Ulghar: Close the door after you, if you don't mind - there's a bit of a draft.
Estavir closes the door lovingly
Dirren looks around
Ulghar motions towards some heavy oak chairs. Sits on a well-carpeted chair on the other side of the room
Estavir sits
Dirren: checks for other people in the room.
Dirge starts slowly walking up towards the door (taking 10)
Dirren -> Skill [Perception] [21] [1d20+8 = 21]
GM: you don't see anyone sneaky
Tsurras follows Dirge
[w] Tallis: check the chairs for traps, hey call me skittish)
Tallis -> Skill [Perception] [6] [1d20+2 = 6]
Dirren sits, pie stil behind him.
Tallis sits in a chair
Dirren: Well, I'm sure you're wondering why we came...
Dirren: Tell him Tallis.
GM: The interior of the tower is much more carefully appointed than the outside - the outside was weathered stone, while on the inside there are carpets, oak, and marble. Glittering crystals adorn many surfaces - tables, mantlepieces, etc. A fire has been laid in a fireplace near Ulghar's seat.
King Mob: you find no traps
Tallis: We wish to learn about a job you did for someone.
Dirren: And we've brought you pie!
[w] Tallis: I assumed I hadn't after I rolled a 6 ;)
Ulghar: A ... job?
Dirren presents him the pie with both hands.
Tsurras: /m whispering You know, Dirge, it occurs to me
Dirren: Very fresh.
Ulghar: You've brought me a fresh pie? That's very kind of you.
Ulghar takes the pie.
Tsurras: Maybe we should have thought of a Panic Word...incase those lads get into a spot of trouble
Dirren: I enjoy pie myself, and this one is quite nice. Enjoy!
Ulghar: Just a moment, I'll have that sliced and we can share it.
Tsurras shrugs
Dirren: How nice of you!@
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: What's that?
Tsurras: I guess when they start screaming, then we'll know
Ulghar: He moves towards the kitchen and comes back a moment later.
Dirren looks at Estavir and Tallis.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: We'll go in if something blows up, right?
Ulghar: argh that was an emote. pay no attenton
Tallis: We're investigating something strange that has happened to guy Damrosch, and we you did some work for him...
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Well... too late now, so yeah, we'll have to wait for some sort of panicked noise inside.
Dirren: heard realy.
Tallis nods.
Campaign saved.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: Unless it's Estavir...that guy screams all the damn time
Tallis: And we're wondering what sort of work you had done for him.
Dirren: Neremahr let us know you were working on something for him.
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: It might be good to be on the ready if we hear Estavir starting up.
GM: Slices of pie fly through the air, on individual stone platters, accompanied by knives, forks, and glasses of milk. Ulghar takes his.
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Hah... on the same wavelength, really.
GM: Does anyone else take a floating platter?
Dirren: Oh, milk. How thoughtful.
Estavir takes a floating platter
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: You got any strategies for fighting a Wizard in his own Tower?
Dirren takes a platter and milk.
Tallis: I'll take a platter.
GM: When you take the platter, it feels as if a person has handed it to you. Same with the milk.
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Move in quick and shut him up before he gets off a spell.
Tallis: Thank you.
[w] Dirren -> Tallis: Isn't this nicer than sneaking up on the poor old man?
GM: Ulghar samples his piece of pie.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: Sounds good to me...hopefully it wont come to that though...
Dirren: Thanks!
Dirren does the same.
Ulghar: Excellent! So, what was that about Naerumar's?
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Definitely, but if it comes to it, primary concern is the wizard, second is everything else.
Estavir sits with his pie in his lap
Dirren: Yes, he said you were doing a special project for Guy Damrosch.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: I wish somebody would show up to MY room with a pie
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: I'm assuming his spells would die off when he did.
TheWanderer (Dirren): rotfl
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: yeah tat makes sense
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: That looked good... can't say as I blame Estavir for trying to get a bite.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: you think those bastards left us a slice?
Ulghar: Oh really... well, I would have assumed Orest would have a bit more taste than to talk about his customers...
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: No, Estavir probably will wind up eating four slices for his personalities.
Dirren -> Skill [Bluff] [5] [1d20+1 = 5]
TheWanderer (Dirren): damn.
Ulghar: [12] [1d20 = 12]
Ulghar: [12] [12]
Campaign saved.
Ulghar: Well, in any case, I do work for many people.
Dirren looks at Tallis.
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Do they think of the big guys' needs? Nooooooo.
Ulghar: Nothing forbidden or too dark, I don't do necromancy or anything.
Dirren: That's good.
Ulghar: Same spells everyone else does - but as you can see, I have an affinity with crystals.
[w] Tallis: check to see if hes now changed his attitude towards us, then lying.
Tallis -> Skill [Insight] [22] [1d20+7 = 22]
Tallis -> Skill [Insight] [17] [1d20+7 = 17]
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: that tears it...when we get back, I'll have the Moon grill up a couple of steaks I got from that farmer and we'll have our OWN pie
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: Deal?
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Deal.
[w] Tallis: the lying part about the "too dark/necro" part
[w] -> Tallis: he seems to have the same attitude; but he is looking towards your group somewhat warily
[w] -> Tallis: You don't think he's lying.
Tsurras gives Dirge the "Respek Knuckles"
Ulghar: [12] [1d20 = 12]
Ulghar: [12] [12]
Dirge gives Tsurras a terrifying fist tap or something.
Estavir: picks up his pie plate, peers piercingly at the blueberries
Tallis: We were wondering if you could tell us about what you did for him recently?
Ulghar: Well, I don't think that would be entirely ethical.
Benticore (Tsurras): coughcoughDIPLOMACYROLLcoughhackcough
Estavir begins eating
Dirren: Hmm...
TheWanderer (Dirren): I'll take one of those.
TheWanderer (Dirren): have a plus one..
Tallis -> Skill [Insight] [27] [1d20+7 = 27]
Campaign saved.
GM: You think he's not looking for a bribe so much as actually questioning your ethics.
TheWanderer (Dirren): crit! He tell us everything
[w] Dirren -> Tallis: Perhaps we tell him about the Kalton family?
King Mob: ok, I give up. Here are my campaign notes! you got a crit in a skill check, omg!
Estavir drinks his milk
Haiku (Estavir): of milk?
[w] Dirren -> Estavir: Perhaps we tell him about the Kalton family?
[w] Dirren -> Tallis: that would perhaps apeal to his ethics if it were stolen
King Mob: the milk tastes fine
Estavir: stands up
Estavir: should I put these in the kitchen? (indicates the kitchen-area)
Ulghar quirks an eyebrow
GM: An invisible hand takes the empty plate and glass from Estavir
Estavir: ah, there's no need for . . .
Estavir: ah . . .
GM: they float towards the kitchen area
Tallis: We've uncovered soem troubling events with the Kalton family and a certain dark crystyl...
Estavir: should I help?
Dirren: Well... We are a bit concerned for Guy when it comes down to it.
Ulghar: go on.
Ulghar: Oh please, don't worry about it - that's what servants are for!
Estavir sits down again, jaded
Tallis: please excuse our friend he ws struck ont he head quite hard recently..
Campaign saved.
Dirren: We have reason to believe that Guy may have been under control of some power, or that even now he is in danger of being harmed.
Ulghar: Well, he did seem a bit odd when I spoke to him.
Dirren: Odd how?
GM: Ok, do a diplomacy check - who is the primary and who is assisting?
Ulghar: Distracted.
Estavir: attempts to determine what Ulghar is distracted by, but becomes distracted himself in the process
TheWanderer (Dirren): I've got a plus one, what do you have?
Tallis -> Skill [Diplomacy] [20] [1d20+2 = 20]
Dirren -> Skill [Diplomacy] [12] [1d20+1 = 12]
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): DAMN, nice.
TheWanderer (Dirren): Well done
TheWanderer (Dirren): crap in a hat
Estavir -> Skill [Diplomacy] [1] [1d20 = 1]
King Mob: aha your critical fail in diplomacy means that he hates you now. go away.
Benticore (Tsurras): This is so much like Law & Order, Special Magic Unit
Tallis notices that noone else is getting sick and takes a bite of the pie.
Ulghar: Well, he gave me a sliver of dark crystal and asked me to find the larger crystal it had been split from.
Benticore (Tsurras): incidentally, I have a +9 to diplomacy
Dirren finishes off his last bit of crust.
Dirren: Did you?
Ulghar: I created a device that could locate it for him.
Ulghar: General direction and so on, not the exact location all the time.
Dirren: Interesting. What does it do? Beep or something?
Tallis: Do you know anyhing about the shard he gave you?
Campaign saved.
Ulghar: It lights up in the direction when you invoke it.
Dirren: What he said.
Ulghar: He took the shard back once I had completed the device. Too bad - I found its properties very interesting
Nosferatu (Tallis): preps for his Law & Order: SVU moment...
Dirren: You had time to study it? What can you tell us about those prpoerties?
Ulghar: it resonated on a frequency I didn't recognize, but it upset the nearby colony of drakes when I activated the device
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: I wish I'd brought some dice or cards or something.
Dirren: Colony of drakes?
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: as luck would have it, I've got some cards here
Tsurras pulls out a deck of cards
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: Good job!
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: you pick three cards from 30, and I do as well
Dirge hunkers down on the ground, using his tail as balance.
Tallis: Excuse me Ulghar, but we ahve some friends waiting outside, their appearance is a bit unusual, would you mind if our friend Estavir brought them in?
Ulghar: Oh yes, there are some drakes nearby. Actually, I could use a hand roosting them out.
Dirge pulls out three cards.
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: the person with the highest total wins
Ulghar: No, I don't mind.
Ulghar motions towards the door; the door opens.
Dirge looks over at the door.
Estavir walks to the door
Tallis: Our group might be able to assist you with your drake problem
[w] Tsurras: best three out of five...remember that three of a kind or a straight wins as well
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: best three out of five
Estavir: stands, dumbfounded and useless
Ulghar: Really? Well, that would be very convenient.
Tallis: Estavir, you may want to go outside and get our friends.
Tsurras: ah
Tsurras: hello
Tsurras puts away the cards
Ulghar: I'm getting a bit old to be tramping around in the hills as I used to.
Tallis: Yes convient things liek that seem to happen to our group alot lately
Estavir gives Tsurras and Dirren a blank stare and goes and sits back down
Ulghar: And as a matter of fact they've stolen something important from me.
Dirge: Good evening.
Tsurras hello sir
Ulghar: Well, nice to meet you. I see you're both members of the Fallcrest Guards!
Tallis: Dirge, Tsurras, this is Ulghar, Ulghar, this is Dige and Tsurras
Dirge nods.
Ulghar: Is this an official visit?
Dirge shakes his head.
Tsurras: I am Tsurras Wyrmblade, Holy warrior in Avandra's service...this is Dirge, scourge of the foolish
Ulghar: Come in, come in. Take a seat. I'll have some more brought down.
Estavir: the lizard likes to dress up . . .
Dirge puts a friendly hand on Estavir's shoulder and slowly squeezes.
GM: Two large, oak chairs float down the stairs and towards Tsurras and Dirge
Campaign saved.
Dirren: Bandits are less likely to atttack the militia, we've found.
Dirge: Um... thank you.
Tsurras: Ulghar, sir, we need your help
Tsurras: The Crystal Guy sought is powerful and dangerous...can you give us any clue as to where he might have headed? Also, what did the Drakes steal from you?
Tsurras looks around for pie
Estavir no meat in it, lizard
Dirge looks around for where the floating chairs came from and how they got here.
Dirge sits down.
Ulghar: Hm... well, the crystal did seem powerful, I agree. But I'm not sure where Guy might have went - I gave him the device and that was it.
Tsurras upon discovering the distinct lack of pie gives Dirge a meaningful glance
Dirge: Moo.
Tsurras: And the drakes?
Ulghar: The drakes stole a component or two that I need. I could replace them but it would take a few weeks. I've been working on my roof recently and they took advantage of my distraction.
Dirge: What sort of components?
Tsurras: Mayhaps we can be of some service to you in that
Ulghar: Well, I hope so. But what could you expect in return?
[w] Tsurras -> Dirge: whats a drake?
TheWanderer (Dirren): BRB
Tsurras: well, I wonder...
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: I think it's a flying lizard... thing. Not a dragon.
Tsurras: would you be able to create a new device that could also locate this larger crystal from what you remember of your...uh...resonant frequencies?
Campaign saved.
Ulghar: Well, yes. I took copious notes.
Ulghar: But I'll need parts - and the drakes have stolen parts I could use.
Tsurras: would you be willing to construct us this device if we route out your drakes and return your parts to you?
Tsurras -> Skill [Diplomacy] [23] [1d20+8 = 23]
Ulghar: Well, that seems reasonable. Try to get them all, if you don't mind.
Dirge: Well, again, what are we looking for?
TheWanderer (Dirren): back
Ulghar: Oh, just bring back whatever you find in their nests.
Estavir: do we need a new device?
Ulghar: You can keep the money or whatever, I just need the gold components they've stolen from me
Estavir: wouldn't it be easier to find the location of the graveyard?
Ulghar: They'll look like little bits of twisted wire. They're actually more complicated than that.
Dirge: Twisted wire... we can do that.
Dirren: Yes.
Campaign saved.
Tsurras: excellent
Tsurras: We have a deal
Tallis: Oh, one last question what do you know about Zelodin?
Tsurras stands up and offers to shake the wizards hand
Ulghar glares at Tallis
Ulghar: What are you talking about?
Dirge sighs.
Estavir -> Skill [Insight] [16] [1d20+2 = 16]
[w] Tallis: inisght, did he recognise the name...
Tallis -> Skill [Insight] [17] [1d20+7 = 17]
[w] Estavir: did he recognize the name?
GM: yeah, he recognized the name
Tsurras: We heard rumors that he might be searching for this Crystal too, whoever he is...We hoped you might know something about him or may have heard some rumors or lore...
Tsurras -> Skill [Diplomacy] [13] [1d20+8 = 13]
Ulghar: I'm afraid that creature is far outside the scope of our discussion.
Tsurras -> Skill [Insight] [18] [1d20+2 = 18]
Tsurras raises an eyebrow
Dirge: Good to know.
Ulghar: If he's been sniffing around here, I don't know anything about it.
Dirren: Well, it's very possible that he is looking for this crystal as well.
Tallis: We'd seen evidence that he was after the crystal that Merchant Damroshc had...
Tallis -> Skill [Bluff] [18] [1d20+7 = 18]
TheWanderer (Dirren): jinx
Ulghar: [18] [1d20 = 18]
Ulghar: [18] [18]
GM: He is hiding something, but he doesn't seem that guilty, just angry
Dirge leans over to Tsurras.
Tsurras: Okay
[w] Dirge -> Tsurras: We have our target in sight, can we just get going now?
Tsurras: Ulghar
Tsurras: We'll get this stuff for you
Campaign saved.
Tallis: Let's just call it part of our fee for retrieve your twisted wire...
Tsurras: maybe when we come back, you might feel relaxed enough to...uh...jog your memory
Dirren let's go of his plate and glass, watching them hover in the air.
Tsurras heads towards the door
Tsurras we should be back within a day or so
Ulghar: If he's after the crystal as well, you'll be in grave danger.
Tsurras: Grave Danger is my middle name
Tallis: We're not asking you to spend any resourfes on it, just when we return if you could tell us about Zelodin.
Dirren: Why Ulghar?
Tsurras waves to his companions
Ulghar looks at Dirren as if he's grown a third head
Estavir catches up
Ulghar: Liches are not usually the safest competitors
Tsurras: Gentlemen, my blade is thirsty...lets leave the poor man to his studies and crush these Drakes while we've still got a bit of daylight
Ulghar: Good day, and thanks.
Dirren: Hmm... Yes.
Dirren stands and follows Tsurras.
Dirren: Thanks for the milk anyway! We'll be back soon.
Tallis: Thank you, and good day to you.
Tallis pulls Estavir out the door.
Tsurras: Alright Dirren, Estavir...can you guys find maybe a way to figure out where that drakes nest might be?
Tsurras: Obviously winged creatures don't leave tracks, so...
Campaign saved.
Tsurras: looks for Drake droppings
Tsurras -> Skill [Perception] [22] [1d20+2 = 22]

Dirge: Any scales or things, people?
Dirge: You and your cowpies, Tsurras.
GM: some types of drakes like to grab small objects; they're called spiretop drakes and roost in nests. Sometimes these nests are near other drakes nests.
Rubb Ed (Dave) (Dirge): That probably wouldn't be me...
Campaign saved.
Tsurras -> Initiative [12] [1d20+1 = 12]

Dirren: We should try to investigate though, like Tsurras said, while we wait.
Estavir: oh, yeah, that too
Tsurras: then, when its ready, we can take it outside of town to see if it works
Dirge: You guys go talk with Eliza. I'm going to check out with House Azaer and see if anyone there has any information.
Tsurras: We might find that the device and our investigations lead us in the same diretions
Tallis: I have the feeling that Eliza will pawn that work off onto us, she's fairly busy.
Tsurras: maybe
Estavir: I'll go with the lizard!
Estavir: he is mighty!
Tsurras: Maybe, tallis, but she has connections we don't
Tallis: But we could always ask her about the Lich
Tsurras: she can open doors that are closed to us
Estavir: He makes us go. He is strong.
Tsurras: I think she wants this solved as much as we do, if only to get the whole damned mess off of her front porch, so to speak
Dirge: Okay, how's this: Tallis, go chat with Eliza. Dirren, you go check around the docks and see if you can dig any info up there.
Dirren: Perhaps I'll do some shopping as well... I need to look into some hide armor I think.
Dirren: Okay. I'll see what I can find there.
Tallis: See if you can have Estavirs ;)
Dirge: I'll go check House Azaer, Tsurras does his thing with the fighters, and maybe Estavir can talk with the merchants?
